Really I think they don't need to be craftable for ice mimic drops they just need to be more worthwhile instead, making them craftable likely would just add recipe bloat for stuff that most people will never use as well it doesn't matter how good the recipe is if the weapon's still kinda bleh nobody'll use it

It’s more effort than just searching up [item name] in magic storage and acquiring it. Almost no boss drops are craftable, along with normal evil biome mimic loot. They just have craftable summons instead.
One can also take a page out of thorium’s book and make mimics summonable. Allows for easier acquisition without just making the drops craftable
tbf; if in that case about just searching up the item and crafting — the player doesn't have such materials for making it, which in-fact involves the player either going to farm these materials in first place to make it — the player will eventually farm and have the possibility of a certain enemy that drops the same loot as the loot can be crafted to spawn and have the possibility of dropping it.
the last part of that hurts my brain to read and try to understand to be honest
I would just prefer something like keys of night/light for mimics over just making their drops craftable.
@grim tusk One could add reliable ways of spawning mimics, such as putting a golden key into an empty chest, which would be much healthier overall (at least to me) than adding more recipe bloat. You could even add in a jungle chest key if you wanted for things like boomstick

A lot of bosses have invulnerability/high damage resistance phases like brimmy or providence, but it doesn’t matter since you can just shoot them anyways. A mechanic which punishes players for attacking them in those phases would encourage players to recognize when the bosses are in those phases and adapt accordingly

Most major changes between rev and death dog is the lack of background and instakill head
to make it a bit harder
Instakill head is also planned to be changed for 1.5

Instead of instakill, 1.5 dmode dog will temporarily delete your defense and DR on head hit
And instakill head will probably be saved for master mode

The astral biome is barely ever visited, you only ever go there to summon their bosses and maybe farm for some weapons
in fairness, the lore and the game shouldn't differ from each other a lot
though usually it's the lore that gets changed afaik
Expanding the biome after Deus dies is both lore-accurate and a way to draw more attention to the biome

Just realized my old Astral Biome block count suggestion could be improved by having the blocks that make up the monolith the altar spawns on count towards the biome, but that would mean the giant monolith would need to be made of a new block that was actually Astral Biome, which would I wouldn't like since the current blocks look nice, or a copy of normal placed Astral Monolith that counted as a biome block. Not sure how well the copy of a block that functions different code wise would go over though.

amalgam suffers from the fact that the dps of it's components isn't boosted enough to matter.
2000 damage brimstone fireballs sounds nice until you realize it occurs every 8 seconds, giving it a consistent dps of 250
post-dog.
Also it's affected by the summoner penalty which greatly reduces it's usage, bc you now deal only 500 damage with the fungal clump which is

to be honest a lot of expert mode items are very uninspired. Gravistar Sabaton is an exception, but so much of Calamity's expert mode items are just stat bloat.

idk why half of the expert mode accessories need to be upgraded. whether it's literally a direct upgrade like with ocean crest, or via being crafted into something like gehenna is.
