Infernum is absolutely not compatible with Souls DLC

even if just for the bereft vassal disabling the difficulty will also prevent you from encountering abyss enemies properly due to their infernum reworks

I didn't use a dash/ram dash for DoG, but I'd recommend a ram dash still.
It was only done because I wanted to do all of infernum no hit with out a dash. I should of found something better then the Hook of Dissonance.
Timing the input to ram dahs is not a huge deal. Trust me when I say learning to HoD him is not worth it.
I wish I could explain in words how small the windows are for HoD. If you let go of space to be ready to jump after landing too early. You die.
Falling .2 seconds leads to him having the ability to hook back faster thus you die.
Which makes needing to react after landing that much smaller of a window
You can also HoD too far back and have a small time frame to jump as well because he tight turns instead of bite misses.
Someone has done DoG No hit in a small box.

DoG just takes time to learn. I remember the first time I fought him in base calamity he broke over 200 attempts there as well.
