the hatchback people loved it, but it drove softer than all the prior generations

it's a brilliant car for what it is, subaru just gave up on styling the rear

the fa24f is a really good engine and takes power well compared to the outgoing ej25, it's only a shame they attached it to the really terrible non-sti manual transmission from the va

interior materials and layout is practical and makes sense, as long as you can overlook the massive screen

since it's a subaru you can stuff all sorts of stuff from other subaru cars into it(like the previous generation sti manual transmission lmfao), the engine bay is huge, spacious and easy to work in, and you can grab all these little oem parts such as fog lights and retrofit them onto your own car like a little lego build

the black plastic fenders even make sense if you're a dirt road kinda person, although most people buying the wrx aren't and they should have just made that an option and defaulted to painted fenders

i think the front of the car looks alright save for the really tiny headlights, but the rear is in shambles

they gave up, ain't no way they put effort into the rear

the only reason i'd ever get a jeep is if i was getting into rock crawling or heavy off roading

wranglers are great entry points for body on frame vehicles

but you're otherwise sacrificing like, everything, just to go off road slightly harder
especially in your case all you're getting it for is winter, you could make due with any suv on winter tires and be perfectly happy

if you're into the outdoors, one of subaru's wilderness edition suvs can get you probably 70% of the way there(short of moderate rock crawling) without compromising too much everyday comforts
