Artificial Silence when receiving audio

Hi,
Not exactly a djs specific question, but perhaps someone can help.
I'm recording audio from a user and passing it through a speech recognition library. The library outputs a prediction/transcription when it detects silence, but there's no silence if the microphone is not activated.

Is there a way to artificially introduce silence to the stream when e.g. there's no data for 1 second?
