You have a set number of subjects you have to do that are outside of your degree. e.g. I study a science degree. I have to do 4-6 non-science subjects. Those are my breadth subjects.
Different from electives because electives are classed as science (in my case).

like, here is another:
Regen tropfte ihm auf den Hut (he was wearing it and getting wet)
Regen tropfte auf seinen Hut (he wasnโt necessarily wearing it)
IMO 6 years is long enough for redrafting rules (I'm pretty sure Duden releases new rules every 7 years or so) but probably not long enough for something to become completely wrong...
