yessss I'm back
luna pls help, I don't want to teach flappy bad german
yes
🤔
Ich nehme dir das Leben mit Hosen.
🤔
I don't know, it's my sentence and flops' attempt at a translation
you haven't done anything
except make me try to explain
then laugh when I fuck up explaining
lol
I'll be honest, I had "(Unter)Hosen sind aus Stahl und wir können uns dadurch töten. HHIG."
I'll be honest
right after Ehrlich says something
😄
Also genau sowie der Rest von dem was ich sage 😄
was auch geht, aber nicht ganz soooo intuitiv wäre
(i mean i told you to take care of the sentence, so maybe i thought i animated you to look for "more" mistakes)
.x
ich habe eh nie behauptet, dass ich gut sprechen kann 😄 ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Mit "damit" vs "dadurch"; das ist so ein "Deutsch ist nicht Englisch und kann niemals wie Englisch sein"-Fehler, aber einer den ich gemacht habe 😦
wenn flops richtiger ist als du
na ok, wie war denn flops' übersetzung?
@ocean robin repost pl0x
@ocean robin sorry for teaching bad german 😦
🤷 Keine Ahnung, was los ist
Flappy hat versucht, "Pants are made of steel and we can kill each other with them. TIL" zu übersetzen, ich habe falsche Hinweise gegeben
Ich hab mich verflopst 😦
Den blauen Namen verdien ich nicht mehr 😦
>gr level a
well
Und was ist so schlimm daran
Solet hat es korrigiert
what you wanted to say wasn't wrong anyway teeeis
just uuuh the implication was
:D
it's not actually a flops
or is even that right
it just doesn't sound too good
I overthought this way too much 😔
today is also not my day for good language tips, I told krypti that "inclination to" was correct
inclined to ist korrekt
aber nicht in dem kontext da ^^
a better phrase would be
"inclination to idealism" was habe ich denn gedacht 🤦
Es ist also nur natürlich, dass man erwarten würde, dass inclination to korrekt sei
und wir können uns gegenseitig damit töten
einander is not as common
but... as we have learned from reflexive verbs topic
einander can sometimes replace that
:D
Ich war derjenige, der es so zuerst geschrieben hat
Meinerseits hört sich "inclination to idealism" nicht schlimm an 🤷
flappy's next sentence: Ari trusted Luna and thought too much and gave Floppy false "corrections" to her German
(flops your sentence was correct, be happy!)
(though it sounds a biiit weird)
(seriously 🤔 )
(then again, mine sounded weirder probably)
(poor ari)
(i shouldn't do that 😦 )
👀
blindly trusting the natives because they said something 😦
actually knowing german well enough 👍
(well, i made you think)
(and that's already a good thing)
(your corrections weren't wrong, just your reasoning :D)
anyway, anyone got a good sentence that isn't a meme or meta for flap
At the C-level I feel like I get that more often than not. The errors aren't necessarily completely 100% wrong, just also not 100% right :v
as long as it "looks" correct, it's fine for you :P
IK
@pine ginkgo I added a second message bc I thought you might think I was talking about myself
C2 is about as good as one can get without being native, but not indistinguishable
At midnight a philosophically minded man thinks of the meaning of the therebeing

"therebeing"?
therebeing :D
Este no es una palabra
There is actually a translation for that word though :v
no una palabra
yes
try it
x.x
🤔
Well uh.
Da is there and "being" eh wot.
being
Sein?
🤔
Dasein?
🎆

Yes.
She got that right way faster than I forebade

Which means like "existence" but krypti is a meme.
AH.
I'm not sure it means existence
WELL THAT WAS WELL PLAYED THOUGH BUT WHAT.
Heidegger wouldn't agree I'm sure
Der Begriff Dasein wird häufig in der Philosophie synonym zur Existenz gebraucht.
"The term dasein is often used in philosophy synonymously to "existence"."
That's about as "means something like existence" as it gets
Just let's not get into semantic and philosophical debates on the difference between existence and being :v
At least not without a trip to the head shop first
philosophische debatten auf deutsch 🤔 😄
während ich kaum einen satz korrigieren kann
I never thought about translating it as existence 🤔 It sounds awfully artificial
But anyway
If a reliable source says so
@viscid cape well
At midnight a philosophically minded man thinks of the meaning of the therebeing
you added an extra the
you translated too literally
therebeing aside
the meaning of the ❎ existence/"therebeing"
Yeah I see what you mean now
english I can confidently correct at least 😅
I was just mimetising german
Um Mitternacht denkt ein philosophisch gewillter Mann von dem Sinn des Daseins idkabout gewillt but thanks dict.cc
oh wait
preposition
yes
fak
and mind your cases when you change prepositions
I am thinking about it right now
mhh, not sure if gewillt is a good translation here
(I had a peek at the original sentence krypti went off of, I won't meme anything up this time)

gewillt is more like I am willing to do something
not sure if minded has a similar expression
if it does, then it works
it doesn't really in this context
if not then i would advise for a new adjective
🤔
my own translation used "nachdenken" but krypti's original didn't 🤔
wot 🤔
but I'll go off what the original from the book had
yeah, that means "ponder, think about"
and that seems more like what you'd do
when thinking about the meaning of life
or whatever
but
the original sentence used denken
so flops, use denken
Engenieurwesen=Engineering
Is it correct?
fak
du meme
okay then
@hot cloak Ingenieurwesen
Yeah
Um Mitternacht denkt ein philosophisch gewillter Mann an den Sinn des Daseins
I am confused
so gewillt now.
There is another word with (schaft) as Suffix
idk how to lead flops to the correct word umm
look up like-minded @ocean robin
@pine ginkgoIngenieurwissenschaft
Gleichgesinnt
So this is correct
both Ingenieurwesen and Ingenieurwissenschaft are correct
np
flappy?
I literally gave you the word, how haven't you done anything with it by now 👀
I am sorry, I am preparing thingos because I am going to leave in 10 mins
get flopsed, teeeis
idk my german philosophy terms and all that, but the original didn't use "Sinn"
gesonnener? 🤔
@lean turret Don't know why I think of John Cleese when I see your pic
oh
for "meaning"
Bedeutung?
so, is flaps actually correcto again or
yeah
coolio
the original was:
- Um Mitternacht denkt ein philosophich gesinnter (minded) Mann an die Bedeutung (significance) des Daseins (existence; literally: being there).
so what is the difference between an etw. denken and über etw. nachdenken
I thought it was like "think of" and "think about" but
you kinda questioned my nachdenken
well
nachdenken is more an active
like
more "effort"
denken is more uh, just a thought without much doing
kinda in this context
I'd use "nachdenken"
I had Um Mitternacht denkt ein philosophisch gesinnter Mann über die Bedeutung des Daseins nach. so I got krypti's sentence's word choice to a T minus (nach)denken
(me too)
lel
(can you denken an things you don't know, Lunaaaaaaa?)
Floppo why aren't you giving your opinion on semantic nuances
krypti's english is a bit funky tho because he's translating painfully literally
🤔
I've heard that
Semantic nuances? What are those?
"about the meaning of the therebeing" like what are you even doing
well, you'd normally use nachdenken for most philisophical contexts
dasein? 🤔
or things that require thinking
@pine ginkgo so wait, you'd use nachdenken
yep berzi
yes
did i?
maybe I'm imagining things 😭
I translated it as "thinks of" specifically to ellicit the denken an translation
ich muss drüber nachdenken

I always thought of nachdenken in terms of "to consider"
drüber
"consider" is transitive tho
if i did question that, teeeis, i forgot about it lel
so "bedenken"
in terms of nuance I meant. I don't care about grammatical overlap
why is flops mmloling?
because she's never seen drüber and thinks I typoed probably
exactly
Flopp is loling
man
As in, acting like a loli? 😸
if flops would just stop being sassy
I am going to leave now.
it would be great

@ocean robin darüber daran darauf etc can -> drüber dran drauf
ah TIL.
and then there are certain places where only like dran drauf work and not the "full" word
she probably laughed into her fäustchen, that a C guy like you did a mistake
"Du bist dran!" (a certain place)
even though chessed and nichtsoblauzrkr (and I lel) make mistakes a lot
in flops' mind c = infalliable apparently

yeah I'm not very blue
😄
it's just a stunt for my self confidence
There's gerade, grade, gerad, grad, Berzi
honestly my german felt better for a bit after I blued my name
Ban Flops and Berzi.
you know me, berzi
then that went awa
:)
😦
you are encouraged to

speaking of changing colours, nobody seemed to comment on my new pic. I am offend.
in christmas 🤔
Aan Bri
usually I say "ban myself" when I flops up but this time was just embarassing because luna managed to get me to rave about nothing
i feel belittled on the basis of my social preferences, ari
i only belittle you on your choice of waifus
Oh look Flops was being sassy and ended up being wrong for the 59385th time. Don't you love when that happens.
how wagst du, mond
#soletdidnothingwrong
#SonneUndTatNichtsFalsches
Calling "SunAndMoon" by "SunAnd" 🤔
Is nobody going to take measures against this blue pestilence?
😦
the measure is becoming blue yourself
and when in the whole server the only ones left will be blues and yellows we can all merge with the swedish server
well, you are taking measures, krypti
giverole Level C Kryptikosis#2237
@pallid kelp but I speak Danish 😦
become one of them
Pferd everyone loved your RPG method
well you're going to learn to not eat your own words as much
You should develop a software using it or something
interesting idea
😄
I think part of the fun is the instant feedback you get on this chat though
True
Also luna 😛
getrole Level C
:heavy_check_mark: Given you the Level C role.
SUDDEN QUESTION @ocean robin
Translate: The file has been downloaded.
PLEASEEE
SUDDEN QUESTION appears each day, sponsored by the need to prove that you remember the structure of the passive voice.
LOOOL
Don't lollygag. ^^
Die Datei ist heruntergeladen worden. I hope I didn't didn't flop on dict.cc word choices 🤔
I didn't didn't. Beautiful.
🤔
If i want to say I want to buy something in full
like, full price
instead of with payments
do I say "Ich will es in vollem kaufen"?
you have survived today Flaps
Yuuus. :D
I'd give you something mean but I've been banned 😐

Fan Blooper.
on the topic of beautiful words, Casca, I also like lollygagging
Anyone got something non-passive to translate?
@viral vale I think it's etw. im Ganzen bezahlen
Do you have a favourite word, Berzi? ^^
Good job, pupil.
PUNISHMENT QUESTION @cold vessel
Translate: As I watched him place the containers with the coloured contents onto the table, I noticed how they moved like water.
danke Kryptikosis
Dawdling, Flappy. It means dawdling. ^^
I think I have several, but I have trouble remembering them on the spot
Wasting time, Flappy. ^^
Ah.
stop procrastinating
procrastinating
Wow that is fancy.
it's actually not
I have two, and I can't decide which I prefer more, so both take up the top spot.
After 14 days, Flops finally solved the cookie problem™.
That's nice and nonpassivey. 😛
Ember and Wrought.
My favorite word is aghast for some reason.
Casca just seems to like his more interesting words
what about Amber?
When I saw it I was like "oh a pretty word"
They also appear side by side in my favourite poem. ^^
Amber is great, but it's not up there.
I like incarnadine
Whaaat does that mean. 🤔
til
I don't know a lot of English formal words tbh.
Which word, Flappy?
fleischfarben
My favorite phrase is 01000110 01101100 01101111 01110000 01110011 00100000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01100001 00100000 01101100 01100001 01111010 01111001 00100000 01101101 01100101 01101101 01100101 00101110 beep boop. 🤖
Picture the bright colour of a rose, Flappy.
Okay.
the word itself suggests the colour of flesh
Flops is a lazy meme. is what Botty said, Flappy.
Damn. ;___;
When I see this I ponder about my English level. 🤔
SUDDEN QUESTION @ocean robin
01010100 01110010 01100001 01101110 01110011 01101100 01100001 01110100 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100110 01101111 01101100 01101100 01101111 01110111 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01110011 01100101 01101110 01110100 01100101 01101110 01100011 01100101 00111010 0001010 0001010 01010100 01101000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01110100 01100101 01111000 01110100 00100000 01101000 01100001 01110011 00100000 01100010 01100101 01100101 01101110 00100000 01100011 01101111 01101110 01110110 01100101 01110010 01110100 01100101 01100100 00100000 01101001 01101110 01110100 01101111 00100000 01100010 01101001 01101110 01100001 01110010 01111001 00101110
incarnadine is not a word even the average native would know, I think
excuse me
I don't think I can do that sentence, Pferd 🤔
🤔
nah it's a rare as fuck word
the only place i have ever seen dwadle used is in Little Red Riding Hood
Q́ѕЁٕ́ѕѼ.. What.
it's used in the UK
Oh also a word I really liked was to thwart
Can I have the translation?
it's still pretty rare though isn't it
i guess i can remember my mom said when i was a kid "don't dwadle"
but i can't think of i used in any other context
I thought so, but you were banned so that's your punishment @cold vessel
I wonder why the other link I used failed so badly. ^^
oh Cassie, I don't think it's my favourite but it certainly is among my top x favourite words: blunderbuss
^^
What's that.
In a similar vein, Flintlock has a nice ring to it.
The last two terms describe firearms.
I guess it's rare, yeah, but not to the extent that you wouldn't understand it
Ah okay.
My favourite word in German is Lichterloh.
scimitar is another cool word imo
YES CASCA. YES.
I've always been fond of albeit.
no, that's true. but it's rare enough you wouldn't hear it unless you have a lot of contact with an english speaking community
Flops. Quick. You have 3 cookies and Berzi gives you twice as much. How many cookies do you have then?
Albeit. Sounds like Albert.
yah, I'd agree with that
AHHHHH PLEASE ARREM
albeit is quite good
It shouldn't, Flappy. ^^
Was the cookie sentence for me?
:)
albeit is a sneaky word in how it's pronounced
Bad bot. ❤
It's pronounced [all-be-it], Flappy. ^^
like arbeit but with an L?
I am wondering if I am misunderstanding the question 🤔
flour is also deceptive if we're talking about pronunciation. Or choir
I would say 9?
Eee
Good because you completely Flopsed it up an hour ago.
Please present the present, presently
lel okay
well, guess we could go on all day about deceptive English words
*many, not much.
yes, someone should fix the spelling
abgelehnt
I presently present to you a present, but only if you're present in the present
or something
Nach 14 Tagen hat Flops endlich das Keksproblem gelöst
I know it Flops
The present present presently presents today's episode of "Fun with Flappy".
Have you encountered zenzizenzizenzic before, Berzi? ^^
oh yes
Oh, almost forgot. Petrichor is also great.
this word
sounds like something out of a bit of fry and laurie, casca. Not the word, the presently presents thing
I wonder how you would pronounce that lel
Hop in VC and I'll answer that question for you.
abotu the word, no I only heard it from you

and I have no clue what it means because frankly, if that's not a made up word I don't know what is
Wow I would love to but it's 10 PM and I mustn't do a sound or I'll be caught.
bad floop
petrichor is quite a nice word. And useful, if you're used to the climate of Sicily and like the smell of rain as much as I do
You wouldn't have to say anything, Flappy.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO MAKE A SOUND
Oh I know my faborite French word.
It was used before the terms exponent, coefficient, and power. It means to the eighth power.
what an utterly useless word, quite frankly
no ur useless
wait I just googled it
Pétrichor is the best French wors I have ever heard. Nobody uses it but it's beautiful.
isn't it the 8th power?
Arren u harsh
The zenzizenzizenzic of 2 is 256.
It is. I changed it, but then realised my initial statement was correct.
I wonder what twisted language it is from
Quick Flops. What's the zenzizenzizenzic of 1?
Damn.
Flappy.
wow, she's a genius
Flops actually has a bit of sagacity.

Rekt.
wow that's sed
what is this "sagacity" meme anyway?
BUT ADMIT THAT IT'S BEAUTIFUL
It is.
fuck, I just played myself
Beautiful.
Do you want the dictionary definition or this server's definition?
Sagacity in the way that Arrem uses it is definitely not what sagacity actually means, so I'll let him explain. ^^
server
apparently the zenzizenzizenzic ultimately derives from italian
Sagacity is to be pedantic.
The dictionary definition is: The quality of having good judgement.
Ah ah aaaaaah. TIL.
but it's ok because it's not my italian, it's tuscan
So, Flappy, do you still want to learn how that word is pronounced? ^^
I would be the only one talking, so you don't have to worry about making a noise.
Yuuuus. I have my earphones. :D
Sagacity - a quality that everyone should have if they want to have any success in life. Every action you do is influenced by your sagacity. Especially your math and German skills. Telling someone that they lack sagacity is the worst possible insult.
@tribal warren can confirm
And what does being pedantic mean flappy?
I see, thank you for the explanation
@whole rapids Here goes nothing: Als ich angesehen habe, er die Behälter mit farbigen Inhalten auf den Tisch gestellt hat, habe ich bemerkt, wie sie sich als Wasser bewegt haben.
How do I pronounce Enton, Casca?
plox no
Psyduck then.
word order, henbri
NO.
3 minute video of Enton saying ENTON then.
No I don't Casca and I should move to #voice-chat. 🤔
In the last part? 🤔
after your first comma
As reference: As I watched him place the containers with the coloured contents onto the table, I noticed how they moved like water.
I need a conjunction there? 🤔
jsut say voice chat :P
you put the the verb at the end
Did you hear that @ocean robin?
What?
I have a better idea too. Psykokwak.
NO. NO.
need a Wiki for all these server memes
Boom that VC was great.
I'm getting confused by English again. Norwegian needs a conjunction there
I liked the part when he said "Enton"
listen to your roots
I like English. :/
please stop
Als ich angesehen habe, dass er die Behälter mit farbigen Inhalten auf den Tisch gestellt hat, habe ich bemerkt, wie sie sich als Wasser bewegt haben.
One day I will say "anticonstitutionellement" in VC. Fun.
where did you get that
Antidisestablishmentarianism.
🤔
Uhh, should it be wie again?
That too, why not.
Not sure why I said als actually 🤔
i trust you can find harder ones
let me search
What about Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, Flappy? Would you pronounce that? ^^
Petition to make the misuse of
a bannable offence
i have a fun one in italian but nobody cares about italian here anyway
I love that you used offence, Botto. ❤
defense de fumer!
:heavy_check_mark: Removed Level B from your roles.
yay
:heavy_check_mark: Given you the Level A role.
it's trinitrotoluene
Waaaat.
i fuck up pronouncing it even in my head
O:
it basically means TNT
T.N.T. is a lovely word. ^^
And Casca what. What.
I think sometimes I get a bit confused because als is so close to as, but that's not really an excuse in this case
👀
also a fun rock song
@fair iron me too
Will we have to quickly enter a voice channel again, Flappy? ^^
henbruas is the confuse
Berziii. ❤
:>
hi, berzi desu
anyway, you did it henbruas (I think anyway)
Is the rest okay, @pine ginkgo?
🤔
Join the voice channel, Flappy. ^^
Oki dokie.
After all, you should be prepared to pronounce that word I gave you. ^^
Phénylalanine. So cute
Best of luck, Flappy.
cassie's pronunciation is spot on
Thanks. ❤
i'll pronounce the italian version of my word sometime
he secretly cheats by inventing phonemes because he's half brit
I've known that word since before you were born the time you first joined school, Flappy.
oh, dna
yup
Where's the acid?
was about toa sk
to ask*
That's just the word.
acido desossiribonucleico
Deoxyribonucleic acid.
the italian one is more fun imo
That I can't remember for some reason.
It sure looks it. ^^
chemistry sure offers quite the collection of fun words
although albeit ultimately the merit is all greek's
Polyethylenterephtalat.
that's no fun in italian, for a change. Because all THs become F
some day I'm going to have you challenge me at pronouncing french words, flop
Let me know in advance; I'd hate to miss out.
sure, we'll do a join performance i guess
Hold on, I know what Flappy should try and pronounce. ^^
If you can pronounce correctly every word in this poem, you will be speaking English better than 90% of the native English speakers in the world. After trying the verses, a Frenchman said he’d prefer six months of hard labour to reading six lines aloud. Dearest creature in creation, Study English pronunciation. I will teach …
inter ermann annes aus ängen undert emden raus.
also I'll have you know that I read everything you write in a french accent, so I hope hearing the way you actually speak won't disappoint me
YOU'LL BE BETTER THAN 90% OF THE NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS OF THE WORLD. LOL.
You kinda would.
oh i think I remember daniel reading that thing aloud
Okay no I'll fail this.
Because you would Flop up most of it.
Yup.
How did he do?
must have been almost a year ago
hmmm
can't remember for sure
wouldn't want to delude you
^^
I'll try this tommorow as soon as I come back from school.
Can't wait.
way too excited to see myself struggle on this
i'll just parse it mentally to see if I can do it
then maybe do it aloud whenever we do our pronunciation thing together
As long as you're not trying meth, you can try whatever you want.
Let me know if you want me to pronounce a word or two. ^^
^^
Mutter der Mann mit dem Meth ist da, ja meine Flopper das weiß ich ja.
How would you pronounce those words, Flappy?
I would pronounce them the same way.
Rock Me Amadeus is a song about an Austrian composer by an Austrian artist. What more could you want? ^^
I don't mean that, Flappy.
I mean what would it sound like if you were to pronounce them.
🤔
Well that took you a while, Bergo.
hard to say thh uuuh
th is easier than t imo :D
Wow phone. The heck.
Off to the voice channel we go. ^^
that poem is hard to read because it makes no sense

it's also crazy long
It's fun to read because of the pronunciation.
I want to try now but I can't
In my opinion, at least.
yeah it's long, that's the biggest challenge
rip me
there were some words i had never seen before, but only or two
that i think they pulled from some archaic dictionary
btw... lieutenant
I like the words used especially for that reason.
LEFT-NANT
Correct. ^^
Fe0ffer?
Which word, Sturm?
FeOffer
Oh.
"Fe0ffer does, and zephyr, heifer."
^^
Interestingly enough, that word is pronounced exactly like the German word Pfeffer.
At least, one variant is.
🤔
gunwale is also not a word i've heard used
i presume it's some archaic type of weapon
Okay so now I am excited to be tommorow for 2 reasons.
It's part of a boat.
ah
Ah.
boats have all kinds of funny words for their parts
ikr
see, i would just say the lip
TIL.
yeah, nautical terms tend to be weird and rare in every language
I would say the border of the boat
oh, it's pronounced gunnel

certainly not gun-whale
i guess i have heard that, never seen it spelled though
I like English pronouncation
that would be a fun instrument of death
very original
cetaceous even
i have never seen hiccup spelled like this: Hiccough

As the word implies, it was given due to being mistaken for a cough.
Eye, I, ay, aye, whey and key. lol please
:]
ay and aye are pronounced the same, aren't they
ok, making sure it wasn't some bizarre archaic word
alien with italian. Heh.
It's also the noun.
eye?
there's clearly a reason to be excited to hear a french girl with a strong accent saying that
fokken brits think they're the normal ones
(The votes are as follows: 25 Ayes, 30 Noes.)
wow berzi
30 Nays
we are the normal ones
yeah, usually if people are voting, it's either yes or no or aye or nay
wouldn't Nays be used here instead? 🤔
source: arrogance
that poem is also tricky because it's written as if a lot of the words rhyme which don't
which is mean
british and arrogance are basically synonymous. Goung through their history since the british empire became a thing is undescribably amusing
what is this "sward" is that the spelling from Beawolf?
I presume you mean the bourgeois
sward is how italians pronounce sword
and apparently it refers to the surface of grassy soil
yes we just described it
"sward" is a rare word
As Sturm said, you would normally see Yes or No, or Aye or Nay.
maybe if you were a farmer you'd use it a lot
i find the sheer amount of words english stole has impressive
Aye and Nay is better.
many are useless, but cool nonetheless
i don't think english has more words than other languages
if you take a latin language you can find as many words as you want, but the problem is that you'll reach a point where you'll just be fishing for latin or greek words
German has compound words, so we don't really have a limit.
well, latin is dead
since english also uses latin and greek for word production, they basically cheat
Interestingly enough, Aa is a word.
spoken latin probably had mroe words than have survived written down
Terpsichore <- also some outdated word
Not really a word, per se.
Aa. Lol.
yeah, that's kind of cheating to put that in there
this is also a word apparently https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/pahoehoe
and it sounds funny
Yesterday I learnt that English has 283 irregular verbs.
is that it?
interesting
Nike is also a Greek goddess. The company is named after her, hence the correct pronunciation of [Nigh-key]. ^^
🤔
yes, i knew about Nike
Here, Flappy.
there's actually quite a few greek gods in this poem
see, this is the thing about english: whenever an italian or a frenchman finds a weird word in an exotic language, if they don't make their own version of it, they say "[exotic language] has this fun word". English on the other hand just outright picks the word and says "this is a word". So people think of it in terms of an english word
cheating
Schadenfreude, Abseil, Zugzwang, Gesundheit, Kindergarten, [...]
Nou, that's not cheating. :>
i think all languages have borrowed words
Zugzwang?
Never heard that before. 🤔
zwang is a current german word indicating obligation
for lack of a better word that certainly exists but currently escapes me
btw hi base
isn't it like, earlier than 7 am at yours? 🤔

8:45 for Baserino.
nicht zwingend can be a challenge to pronounce quickly, aber nicht zwingend
oh i confused the timezones
You know what I should do? Sleep now. But I don't want to. But I have 2 tests so let's do it.
aw. Bonne nuit
Hf
bonne? 🤔
Ye
i haven't actively spoken french in like, half floppy's lifetime at the very least
Dors bien, Flappy.
Guys who wants some math
la nuit
did you finish your homework?
Me?
Ja. Du
Yes
Oh yeah, almost 9am for me.
So wanna do some easy math guys?
Sure.
That's actually not too hard
I think it is for the hot dog is unknown
🙄
I don't even know how this sum symbol works
Nice meme
You don't know how to do addition, Deploit?
ha
it's wrong though because the X's should be hot dogs
which are fundamentally different things
Yeah you're missing an x in the denominator.
And I'm an hour late for this discussion.
are we doing the hotdog problemo?
Oh hey people are talking about math? Great
I was watching a video on u-sub integration, and the person was briefly taking the derivative of the inside function
oh chain rule
Set du=3x^2 dx
I'm confused where the dx is from
She says "because u is in respect to x" but that doesn't answer if it's an actual value I can use or not
I thought a derivative was just an equation to find a slope at a given point
So why isnt 3x^2 alone
the derative is in function of x
so you're doing du/dx=d(x³+5)/dx
the dx comes from the denominator there
in du
cause d(x³+5)/dx=3x²
so
du/dx=3x²
du=3x²*dx
(I haven't done derivatives in a while so pls correct me people that actually know ze maths)
That looks right and I can follow it easily, I was a little unsure if myself on that, thanks
neat
Also she said something about the outside value equaling the derivative?
I mean it does in this case
But what if I were to change the x^3 to x^4?
Bergie you filthy pleb.
