So the thing about German cuisine is that, a lot like Indian cuisine, there are a lot of seperate regions. The biggest one being the Weiswurstäquator, which basically seperates the German culture area between the north and the south.

Food in northern Germany will be different from the food in the south and in Austria for example.

So the easiest way I can put this, regional cuisine had centuries to evolve independently thanks to the history of the region. Northern German cuisine is way more fish based than the one you'll find in the south; the south western french-influenced regions have a lot more noodles and pasta (Spätzle for example.)

It's really something for everyone
