what you think
The second feels better
(spoiler: they way you wrote it, both are wrong)
dang i thought you were going to say that
mmmh where did I go wrong, did I forgot subordinating once in the first sentence?
wait, is das on position 0?
You all playing that translator game?
well, for now
If I wasn't in school I'd play it
just tell me ALL the differences
:c
between both sentences, flappsy
... why?

I don't know, I hesitated between the 2.
mmmh
I just forgot that "das" replaces the book righto
bwuah, you're stlll going at this?
Yes owo
x-x the das one is right
Solet says it's not.
but what you wrote isn't completely correct
whoa, there is a case over there?

Don't tell me das is position 0 or subordinating.
Oooh Kelseysause is being the local bully now. 😮
It takes my everything to not just type the answer
But it's a better learning experience
yeah
What's the sentence? Scrolling is hard man.
Das Buch, das habe ich gegeben or das Buch, dass ich gegeben habe?
The answer is 42 actually
sometimes you just wanna scream the answer
is what we've come to so far
flappsy is basically learning about relativsätze on the fly
yes
the one up further wasn't this close, but she has been working on it
The full sentence is this: "The book I gave you for your birthday is my favourite, although the ending of the story is very sad."
But right now we're just working on: "The book I gave you for your birthday is my favourite"
Oh well I don't see why you're working on that. It's quite easy. You just say Das Buch, das - nah memes, I'm not giving out the answer. 😄
Wait. Isn't a thing that you learnt to me like for "das [...], das + a case"?
lmao

arrem you troll
That's what I'm here for.
buf what case was it goddamit
What case was what?
I gave you a hint that it's either Subordinate clause or a 0 position sentence
I want to say that is position 0...
what is position 0?
me
LOL
yes
ah
mmmh
so, try writing it in a sentence
we knew that already

Mmmh so wat Kelsey? I must do wat now?
Whom?
Does this sound right to you?

I think the sentence order is wrong
I forgot the dir.
But I think there's something else.
try writing it with subor ^^
Nooo, don't tell me it's subordinating D:
hehe
"Das Buch, das ich gegeben habe"
okay...now where is the book going to?
Did you forget something this time? 😛
...
Whom?
Don't rephrase it, just add the missing word.
"Das Buch, das ich dir gegeben habe"
bingo
God that sounds so wrong.
💯.
Oh.
And yet it's so right.
🍰

😄
Huzzah!
Second part nooooow
Now, why did you give me the book?
Was it an analysis book? Arrem loves those.
...now I realize I should have chosen weil?
I sure do. 😍
no
Oh good thing.
Where would you put a weil? 🤔
now we work on your other part
ist mein Lieblingsbuch/Lieblings, obwohl das Endes der Geschichte sehr traurig ist
Oi. Kels.
yes
The birthday part.
🤔 I didn't know it was supposed to have a Birthday part
I forgot translating this. O.o
happy birthday 🎉
genetive error in the end of the sentence
The full sentence is this: "The book I gave you for your birthday is my favourite, although the ending of the story is very sad."
^Base
Goddamit I forgot birthday.
haha
Yes, Flappy forgot the birthday part in her first attempt. 😄
Dammit Flops. Focus!
yes
oki dokie
"Das Buch, das ich für dein Geburtstag dir geschenkt, ist mein Lieblingsbuch, obwohl des Ende die Geschichte sehr traurig ist."

well...
what would be better than für dein?
WESSEN Ende? Das Ende ... Geschichte ;)
häppy birtday?
oh wait.
Häppi Börsdejj tu juuu is probably the inofficial german birthday song.
zum Geburtstag.
yes, try using that
"Das Buch, das ich zum Geburtstag dir geschenkt, ist mein Lieblingsbuch, obwohl des Ende die Geschichte sehr traurig ist."

oh great
but it's much closer
Well, at least we know that she's typing it all out from scratch now. 👌
^^
But focus, Flops. Or 🔪.
And you use the wrong case near the end.
yes, we're focusing on the middle right now
We'll get to that™.
And the wrong article.
GET TO THAT™, CASSIE
I thought it was genetive. :<
just focus on the middle rn x)
oh yeee
^
the genetiv is in the wrong spot
we'll get to it
so, which pronoun is in the wrong spot?
the wrong article was genitivated

"Das Buch, das ich zum Geburtstag dir geschenkt, ist mein Lieblingsbuch, obwohl des Ende die Geschichte sehr traurig ist."
Wait, in the "das ich [...]?"
the ... part
I am 100% sure it's dir.
oh
😂
OMG HABE
haha
^^
OMG HABE INDEED
YED
okay, write it in
MAY GOD HABE MERCY.
Now give us the whole sentence again. AND PAY ATTENTION OR UR DED
^
NO ARREM PLOX
I agree up until the dying part.
Pay attention or ur.
Before, charging.
After, discharging.
I guess Arrem was correct about the dying part.
I was curious about that too
What the hell is that font
Eww that font
Comic Sans Revamped
LOL
LMAO
You might be right
(I...had that font on my S5 when I was still in highschool...
)
feelsbadman
^^
See. They all grow out of it. Eventually. By the time they're 65 at most.

ANYWAY SENTENCE.
YES, SENTENCE.
Sentenced to what?
WHERE WERE WE.
Space.
Sentenced to fixing her sentence
We were at the part where you write the whole sentence again.
Doing your best not to forget anything.
And then read it again before sending, to make sure that you didn't forget anything.
If anyone else wants to play, I can give them a sentence, so let me know if you want one.
And after you've read it, read it once more, just to be extra sure.
"Das Buch, das ich dir zum Geburtstag habe geschenkt, ist mein Lieblingsbuch, obwohl des Endes die Geschichte sehr traurig ist. "
gott genetive is wrong ;_;
@opal sequoia Hit us
Oh, what is your knowledge of German, henbruas? I forget.
^
geschenkt is better
and yes, facepalms x2
Syntax, Flappy. ^^
geschenkt habe
kk
Yep.
is mein Lieblingsbuch is fine
No. Not geschenkt habe. Geschenkt habe makes no sense. Whole sentence. Go.
You always mess it up when you're rewriting, so you're not allowed to take shortcuts. 😛
obwohl des Endes die Geschichte sehr traurig ist
...genetiv
^doesn't exist
^
so why des Endes?
^
@opal sequoia can you find that explanation of yours. ❤
and die Geschichte?
^ ^ ^
And then immediately go to bed if you haven't already.
Doesn't the end belong to the story and not the story to the end?
Let's go through them in order.
The story belongs to all of us. ❤
I digress, carry on.
I just woke up. 😢
Oh, you did sleep. Good.
@opal sequoia Something around this level is probably fine, or maybe something slightly easier
the end of the story
the meme of the man
the i really don't know of the i have no idea
The thing with the of the is what takes the genitive.
Hard to say because my grammar is better than my vocabulary
At least I think to think it is xD
Another way to write it is: "The story's end"
Kinda makes it obvious then if you can put it in that form.
Okay, henbruas. I'll see what I can do for you. But part of this task is actually learning to correctly look up words in the dictionary even if you don't know them.
I think she ran away from the genetiv
Oh no. Is this the part where we ban her?
I am going to eat.
Find out on the next episode
Sentence first, eat later.
To be continued...
You're very very close to the end D:
We can torture help hen in the meantime.
makes me feel evil
@cold vessel "I know we're already late, but I'm not going to the party until I find my keys and my phone."
A straight-forward one to start with.
And I can make it harder next time.
This is the end
Hold your breath and count to ten
Feel the earth move and then
Hear my heart burst again
[...]
If hearing someone's heart burst once isn't surprising enough, this person hears her heart burst twice. How does that even work.
Okay. 😄
How about a really difficult sentence? ^^
Well it's not going to be too bad.
That last part I'm not at all sure about, but: "Ich weiß, dass wir schon spät sind, aber ich gehe nicht zum Party bis ich meine Schlüssel und mein Handy finden"
"Suddenly the man-shaped arrangement of meat became animated, raising up on two arms made of game hens and country bacon, planting two hands with sausage link fingers on the floor." Kelsey.
It's from a novel. That's how it's written.
What an interesting novel. 😄
It's one of my favourites!
What's its title?
‘test‘
John Dies at the End.
test
That title sounds like a spoiler in and of itself.
test completed
Yeah. 😄
Does a guy named John die or is there a guy called "John Dies" at the end? 🤔
One of the main characters is named John.
Okay, henbruas, what's the verb at the end of your sentence?
One lonely day, after eons have passed, a small little something awoke amidst nothingness. It tried to stretch its appendices, but it didn't know how far it could, since the void around the little thing covered all its senses.
Woops, it should be "finde", right?
Yeah, that's correct.
go base!
That's for me? 🙀
maybe :o
@opal sequoia Was that the only mistake?
you have creative freedom, base
From those excerpts that book seems really odd
doesnt need to be literal
Okay, I'll try it.
Oh, only the one I gave Kelsey is from the book though.
The others I just made up.
Oh sorry, I thought SoletLuna was quoting it too
Oki I am bak.
gentive also doesn't exist.
can you grab the last form of the sentence you had flapp?
^
yus wait
"Obwohl des Endes die Geschichte sehr traurig ist." let's go straight. Genetive.
so what you have written is of the end's the book
genitive
^
can you grab the last form of the sentence you had flapp?
Form, not part. Full sentence pls.
okay, put the full sentence together
You can do it, Flappy. ^^
hi, möchte jemand zum Voicechat kommen?
Casca, go. Flops go.
"Das Buch, das ich dir zum Geburtstag habe geschenkt, ist mein Lieblingsbuch, obwohl des Ende die Geschichte sehr traurig ist."
That was the whole sentence.
Try again.
No, there's something off with the first part.
^
Oh my god.
You unfixed something from earlier. 😛
hoyl
Well if it makes you feel better, if "unfixing sentences" ever becomes a profession, you could earn a fortune. ❤ dontmurdermecasca
I-I don't see it

Why would I murder you, Arrem.
What was the English sentence for this again?
You just have a sentence ordering error
^
OH YEAH AGAIN
and the cases still
^
goddamit
you can do it ^^
We're ignoring the cases for until we get the first part right. 😄
let me fix that fokken habe
Awww look she's using 'fokken'.
Always replace rude words with less rude words. ^^
yes fok

"Das Buch, das ich dir zum Geburtstag geschenkt habe, ist mein Lieblingsbuch, obwohl des Ende die Geschichte sehr traurig ist."
FINALLY.
Now cases
oh fok genitive
the des would be correct in austrian

Just pretend your sentence is austrian

"An einem einsamen Tag, vor dem Äonen verstrichen war, erweckte inmitten Nichts ein kleines Etwas. Es versuchte, die Anhängsel zu strecken, aber es wusste nicht, wie weit es gehen könnte, da das Nichts, herum das Etwas, alle seine Sinne völlig bedeckte."
holy
What was the original passage, Base?
a long one
(tbh, I can't do the one you gave me 😄 )
"One lonely day, after eons have passed, a small little something awoke amidst nothingness. It tried to stretch its appendices, but it didn't know how far it could, since the void around the little thing covered all its senses."
Äonen, nicht Aönen :D
Oh that's okay, it was quite a silly one.
danach is wrong
I have a translation if you wanna see it
I worked on it with my bf
Go ahead, Kelsey. ^^
Plötzlich erwachte die menschförmige Flesichmischung zum Leben, sich aufrichtend mit Armen aus Hühnerfleisch und Speck, mit Würstchenketten-Fingern am Boden.
Can it be davor?
Was lese ich da? oO 🐔 🥓
what is that
Scary or not, I'd eat it
The more I read it, the more I understand it and I am more confused
Me too, flappy :D
That must've been the weirdest sentence I have ever tried to translate
Agreed owo
"Das Buch, das ich dir zum Geburtstag geschenkt habe, ist mein Lieblingsbuch, obwohl des Ende die Geschichte sehr traurig ist.'' fix it!
it had a chicken head with duck feet, and a woman's face too 🎶
That sounds like a challenge. :]
Wat does that mean.
Has anybody ever had those? Are they any good? Do you cook them or eat em raw ?
yes but how casca
which part do you think gets genitive, flappy?
💯
Good idea. Should have thought of it sooner. 👌
The more times you get it wrong, the closer you get to getting it right
W23rqwfaskdf 3yeah wot she sez
...that's philosophical tat
good, Queen in my ears for hype. Now behold:
"Des Ende von die Geschichte"
🤔
Banned.
yes
you're giving the wrong thing the wrong case
i knoww solet dat is a disaster

Again?!
dem Ende sein Geschichte 😄
no x-x
Flappy, maybe try to go from the start with this part. What is the nominative of each of these nouns, firstly?
___ Ende, ___ Geschichte
Wait, I inverted it too 🤔
Fill in the blanks with the correct definite article for the nominative form.
Queen's Roger Taylor reminds me of John Leyton's character in The Great Escape.
AH. Nominative form.
So what would it be, Flappy? ^^
Die Geschichte. Das Ende.
Yes.
genau
wooo
Which becomes?
Okay, now... which of these is the "owner" in this situation?
^
The story.
Yes.
Okay, and which case does the owner get?
Hm. We could also try just ignoring the "of the story part" at first. Get the "end" right first.
So der Geschichte?
Yes, Flappy.
i didn't even know it had two pluarls
And end?
🤔
🤔
Nominative?
Which one, Luna?
tell me it's wrong because it is
i wrote appendices
Complete your answer.
^
but apparently, what i meant was appendages
and both their singular is appendix
:(
"What case? ✅ What article?"
Das Ende?
Yep.
Oh yeah. 😄
Now finish that sentence!
I did look at that and thought something was weird.
Aww, I just swapped those 2. :(
i wanted to have the meaning of "Anhängsel"
Which doesn't fit in anywhere. ^^
Makes sense.
Feel free to message me the sentence, Solet, and I'll correct it, ere Base translates it.
des bast scho
Anhang is something like what you put in your email as a fail
Now translate Doppey's sentence, Flops.
wot.
ayy
Anhängsel is more like... something that... is there, possibly involuntarily
Bayern ist ein Anhängsel von Deutschland
Aha.
Like if you have wanna go meet some friends, but your mother tells you to take your little sister with you
lmao
Finish the sentence, Flappy. Show us the complete translation. ^^
"Das Buch, das ich dir zum Geburtstag geschenkt habe, ist mein Lieblingsbuch, obwohl der Geschichtes das Ende sehr traurig ist."
lol
Dammit Flops.
💬
?
even though of the story the end is sad?
x-x flappyyy
b-but
Flappy, no. :(
they were in the right order
^
just wrong cases
facepalms
and no ending for feminine gentitive in the noun

anyway
i wanted Anhängsel to more have the meaning of Gliedmaßen - extremeties
if you get me, base
but i failed you :(
"Das Buch, das ich dir zum Geburtstag geschenkt habe, ist mein Lieblingsbuch, obwohl das Endes der Geschichte sehr traurig ist" plox tell me it is right
Yeah, I got the idea when I translated it, but I just didn't know what the words were anyway.
why endes?
no.
Oh.
Since they are listed quite similarly in the dictionary.
Nooooooo.
whai.
😭
Whaiiiii.
So close!
Why are you adding random suffixes now? 🤔
Don't change the spelling of either noun, remember?

das Ende is in nominative. Nothing gets any suffixes in nominative. Or accusative. Or dative singular if you're not ancient.
You already know the answer, now just type it out. 😃
fok last time
anyway base
'Anhängsel' klingt sehr nach Verniedlichung von 'Anhang' (Appendix im nicht-medizinischen Sinn)
this would be my translation
"Das Buch, das ich dir zum Geburtstag geschenkt habe, ist mein Lieblingsbuch, obwohl das Ende der Geschichte sehr traurig ist."
GOD.
Correct! You took only 2 hours and 36 minutes. 🎉
lol
LMAO
Yay, Flappy! Well done. ❤
Nice
Mir fällt kein beispiel ein in dem anhängsel nicht durch anhang ersetzt werden kann 🤔
I was going to say "oh well why not another one" but if it takes 2hrs again
Thanks, it was a good sentence actually, Luna.
"Tooks"
And good work Flappy!
You're always welcome to try another sentence.
Quick. Pop quiz on genitive. Translate the door of the car.
"Eines einsamen Tages, nachdem Äonen vergangen sind, wachte ein klitzekleines Etwas in Mitten des Nichts auf. Es versuchte seine Anhängsel/Extremitäten auszustrecken, aber wusste nicht wie weit, denn die Leere um das kleine Ding deckte alle seine Sinne ab."
👀
You have one attempt. Make it count.
^
HOLY.
Nee, ich denk in Implementierungen, abstrakt bekommt nix hin
:)
4 ISNT ABSTRACT ENOUGH
Die Tür des Auto?
wat
Is that your final answer?
No.
Hmm, thanks, Luna. And do you see any particular issues with my translation? Like anything from yours that would be specifically better to use?
Good. Because it's wrong. 😛
I think you're missing a small piece

hallo, möchte jemand zum Voicechat kommen?
der has no ending on the noun in Genitive
Masculine and neuter nouns get an additional -(e)s in genitive. That's why it's der Geschichte (without any suffixes), but des Auto___.

well
Klitzeklein is a pretty nice word I've never heard before.
Don't tell me des Autos...
why did you translate after as " vor dem"
I won't tell you anything. You're supposed to tell me the answer. 😛
it's not something you must know
but yeah
since little and small kinda mean the same in german
and you don't want to say "kleines kleines" :P
So? Does 'des Autos' sound good enough for you?
"Die Tür des Autos" then.
Final answer?
God that is stressing me as fok.
Are you confident with your choice?
✅
Good. Now find the mistake.
flapps, you gotta learn to be confident
^
die Autotür? :D
also "herum" is not a preposition
I am going to go off for a bit.
I specifically requested "the door of the car". 😛
des Autos Tür?
dem Auto seine Tür
wat
die Autotüre.
des Autos Türe
Well, I wrote it as nach first, then I messed up and wrote it like danach, then I was like "How do I say it like before something instead?" so I just wrote it like "vor dem" because I don't know many time words.
Ahhh.
you got it right ^^
nachdem is the conjunction for after :)
You're a meme. 😦
Anyway, see you in 20 mins.
Gotta do a thing.
And I also thought about writing it like "An einem einsamen nach Äonen Tag".
Can that be done?
Till then, Flappy.
nope
Oh, I see.
@opal sequoia Do you have another sentence?
and add a bit more einfo
like
"An einem einsamen Tag nach (etlichen) Äonen"
would work
Oh sure! "Did you get the empty boxes from your father's store yet? We'll need them tomorrow." henbruas.
Thank you.
we killed flapssy \o/
wooooooooooooooooo who's next
Seems henbruas.
@opal sequoia What kind of store?
Hast du noch die leeren Kisten aus dem Laden deines Vaters geholt? Morgen werden wir sie brauchen.
I don't know if that's how genitives work with possessive pronouns 😬
ok everyone is ded
Why is your self-esteem so low, Flappy?
I have no idea.
@ocean robin You're the most beloved creature in this discord 🤔
When I think about something, I am half-sure that is wrong.
@fair iron Is your guardian
^^
And I can't say at 100% "ok I am right"
It's okay to doubt. However, it's better to be confident and fail than it is to be uncertain and succeed. 😃
That's also me, sometimes the things I'm most sure of turns out to be wrong 😢
I agree a lot on that. ^^
if you had a reason to be sure
it's alright
then you know you can change the reason
and you won't do that mistake again
yep
And mostly that's my case when I am wrong.
it's fine to do things intuitively,
but that only works out correctly, if you have a basic understanding to make those calls
That's normal for everyone flappy (:
Well, I am mostly a person who acts on her gut feeling
If my instincts think so, I do like that
that works if you just want to speak the language
but not if you want to understand the language
Yeah.
I have seen that.
And now I must sleep. I have opened my eyes since 16 hours now.

@opal sequoia I posted my translation

base is ded
Thanks for the help you all.
Anyone else feel like checking it then?
well
would it suprise you
if i told you
it's not correct
wait
you edited it!
sneaky
I did 😄
Yeah, I wondered about that. What should I use? "bisher"?
what you mean is schon
Oh, really?
I see
Kinda hard to tell the difference between all of dict.cc's suggestions for "yet"
Yeah, schon and noch and similar things are things best learned by examples.
Sorry btw I'm getting ready to leave soon.
No problem
random finding that keeps happening to me
So if you were to say... Have you done it yet? You say schon. But if it's more like: Do you still need to do it? then it's noch.
at night, after speaking german all day, writing in german, being in class in german
I sometimes here, or writing back home, find certain english words just... bizarre...
i could not for whatever reason figure out how to spell "receipt"
i was writing "rezipt?, reciept?" etc
Oh yeah, I've been getting a bit uncomfortable with the ie/ei pronunciation in English lately.
English ortography makes 0 sense
i feel like this bizarre-feeling is actually good... its showing somewhat of an internalization of german
It's fun
I do the same thing with article too Mitch
But it makes me realize how much I need to work on vocab
I always second guess myself
Why don't the nerds here develop a bot that will propose sentences to be translated and give points to the first who writes them correctly?
I used to read a ton when I was younger and never had problems spelling anything
That's normal for everyone flappy (:
Psh normal. I know everything. All of it.
@opal sequoia That makes sense, thanks
then I stopped reading and now I can't spell at all
@viscid cape i've written bot suggestions and posted them but they don't get implemented :p
¯_(ツ)_/¯
@viscid cape example:
@client.command(pass_context=True)
async def trans(ctx, args, message):
arr = '{}'.format(args).split('->')
t = Translator(from_lang=arr[0],to_lang=arr[1])
await client.say('```' + t.translate(message) + '```')
@sudden panther i've posted in bot channel and the generals haha
nice place
^Nobody every reads the bot channel since it's really just #botspam and #general flows pretty quickly. 😛
@viscid cape it translates using google trans for example:
!trans de->en "this text will be translated"
@pine ginkgo yeah its terrible, but it quickly gets the gist of large chunks of text
i have it in a bot for a different discord
@client.command(pass_context=True)
async def members(ctx):
i = 0
for server in client.servers:
for member in server.members:
i += 1
await client.say("There are **" + str(i) + "** members in the server!")
for seeing how many members are in the server ^
😄
Where would the bot take the sentences from that would give a suitable difficulty to each level?
how about a command that shows how many discord users are not a member of this server?
You'd have to have a list of them somewhere
@whole rapids what?
@hot cloak Please, use string formatting
btw, did Base and/or Kelsey translate their sentences?

interesting
Nearly 3000 members!
You suggested a function for the bot where it gives people sentences to translate
can't believe its only been 1 year
it'd have to have a good source
is there a way to check how old a user is?
Can you take those from a site like taotoba or whatever it's called?
joined Mitch
like Clozemaster does

haha wow I'm almost as old as the server
You could, yeah, but taotoba sentences are always short
Oh yeah sorry
Hehe, you're younger than the server. ^^
did I miss shitpost suggestions for my bot
nope, just me again
I wanted >trans en->de "text"

Allows you to look up words you don't know.
Example lookup: >lookup laufen de en

You can also type >help category for more info on a category.
whats up base
One of the channels got loose and was threatening to cause havoc.
oh wew
Also, Mitch:
for member in server.members:
i += 1```
is another way of saying:
```python
len(server.members)```
^^
@whole rapids Oh, we translated, yeah. 😄
And for server in client.servers: is saying for every server that the bot is in, not just the current one.
oh, okay, didn't notice
"An einem einsamen Tag, nachdem Äonen verstrichen war, erweckte inmitten Nichts ein klein Etwas. Es versuchte, die Anhängsel zu strecken, aber es wusste nicht, wie weit es gehen könnte, da das Nichts, herum das Etwas, alle seine Sinne völlig bedeckte."
And Luna's for comparison:
"Eines einsamen Tages, nachdem Äonen vergangen sind, wachte ein klitzekleines Etwas in Mitten des Nichts auf. Es versuchte seine Anhängsel/Extremitäten auszustrecken, aber wusste nicht wie weit, denn die Leere um das kleine Ding deckte alle seine Sinne ab."
thanks 👌
Where the hell did that extract come from lol
aus Lunas Kopf
I should've known 😂
A Untermieter is someone who rents part of a property (most of the time single rooms) from a Mieter (who himself rents from a Vermieter)
I think an Untermieter would be a sublessee in English maybe?
I'd call that a renter, honestly.
but isn't that a Mieter?
an Untermieter is somebody who rents from a renter, if I understand correctly
Correct
I'd call both a renter. The person renting the building and the person renting from the renter. O.o
I suppose that's true.
So like you rent a room from someone who's renting a house kinda thing ? 🤔
Yeah
how do i know if it's a date? i feel like "this is definitely not a date" was just a test
how do i pass
good ideas as always
Ask them for a kiss but bring a bag of Hershey kisses just in case they react poorly to the question
someone did that to a spanish exchange student i know and she was really confused because she hadn't heard of the candy before
well they were like "would you like a kiss?"
Good idea, poor execution lol
I feel that's an actual strategy candy producers use for naming stuff
There's one type of chocolate in Italy which is called bacio. It's also an icecream flavour.
Interesting 🤔 do they taste good ?
Oh yeah. It's a mix of dark chocolate and hazelnut
I think they also exist outside of Italy
Try googling baci perugina and see if you've ever seen anything similar. They often remarket products internationally by changing their names
I've never seen that specific brand, but we have similar ones here
The unfortunate thing is that the ingredients often vary country by country, and that's also true for how much it what type of sugar is used
True
That's why a nutella milkshake find here in Germany is worse than one made in Italy, as I found out. :<
Nutella here is more sugary
And I heard it's even more sugary in the usa
Nutella milkshake.....
I'm glad nobody got hurt. This is easily the worst story I've read in German thus far
a couple weeks ago like 20 tons of nutella and other chocolate products were heisted in Germany
keep your eye out for black market treats
I don't really like nutella though because of the bloody hazelnut flavor. I just can't enjoy it. Chocolate almond spread though, that's pretty much the epitome of human culture. leave me on an island with nothing but jars of that stuff, water, and a spoon, and I will happily die of dehydration after giving myself awful chocolate based diarrhea
seriously though, what a shame about the palm oil. why does it have to be so smooth and delicious while at the same time consisting of at least 22% orangutan blood?
ah yeah, @sturdy shadow mentioned that to us lol. The Nutella heist
and by us I mean me and mr berzi. I'm starting to behave like gollum
who is mr berzi anyway
he lives inside me
you wished
i'm going to take that literally
You mr berzi and gedyHD
LMAO wtf sparkasse http://prntscr.com/gi85y3
why is there a shirtless, black metal Bruce Willis on their front page
That's hot
look at that heart he's making. He's a hardcore dude, but he wants you to know he has a softer, gentile side.
🤔
smh
here we go
Reading in general2 helps too
General reading also helps
a less jewish side? @pseudo trail
what do you want to say with that?
he said "look at that heart he's making. He's a hardcore dude, but he wants you to know he has a softer, gentile side."
I was making a pun?
were you?
Yes, in fact I was 😃
the only thing that i was getting from it was antisemitism
Well I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, I'll keep that in mind next time
i still don't understand how that was supposed to be a pun
well
I'm assuming they misspelt "gentle" and I ran with that
But yeah I totally see how that could be taken the wrong way
ahhh, i had to google the word "gentile" for that
sorry for the confusion, but the word "Gentile" was not known to me ^^
It's fine lol
yeah, me neither
I have a question, but it's about English, and it's bothering me slightly:
Does it make sense to use "ilk" without having explicitly referred to something else beforehand but instead implying it? For example:
"His ilk are a disgusting lot."
Instead of:
"People of his ilk are a disgusting lot."
the English server is a bit dead right now and ich brauche sofort Antworten!!
ilk?
oops, sorry, had to go away for a bit
I meant more in the sense, does the first sentence sound like it would work? Or does it seem odd in some way?
Sounds uncommon, to say the least.
@pseudo trail ilk means:
a type of person or thing similar to one already referred to.
It should work, nevertheless.
it's a rare word
I've never heard that ever
is English your native language?
yep
hmm, maybe just the literature I read then
okay, thanks, Casca, needed a second opinion
will just do the first if I am being poetic
@ocean robin test
I only have mentions. The rest nada.
@torn latch I'm not sure if you were here when this happened, but in case you hadn't heard, the server recently celebreated its birthday. ^^
Thanks, you meme.
