I absolutely agree. I'm framing the story like this: Ottoman and Armenian assassins had been working together for centuries. However, the Templars, wanting to seize complete control of the region, infiltrated both groups and severed this connection through fabricated provocations. We can also use your "stage ground" concept as a deliberate perception operation created by the Templars. When Alp Arslan discovered this great betrayal, he would have been trying to save not just one country, but the entire legacy of the Brotherhood.
