#Do Artifact gear count as legendaries in AC Shadows?

I'm running a trinket that gives +15% damage per non-legendary gear equipped. As such, I'm using all epic gear. With patch 1.1.1, if I upgrade a legendary item into an artifact quality item, could I use the artifact item and still get the +15% damage, since it's no longer a legendary?
