#Morroblivion

never used a thread but seem like good reason to
this does seem like their intended purpose
i'll be a bit more active on this topic later
alright
my working theory is
if we put everything the mod adds to the data folder in its own folder
we can add said folder to the mod manager
i work from root folder but essentially, yes
so youll test it first? or should we both work on it?
Theres going to be multiple things to debate
& a few different possible ways to integrate
but more or less, you do things in your way
then we can compare process to finalize it
If interested in it being a reproducible task
alright
ill test my idea with mo2 then
plus if it all works it can be a resource for other people who want the mod
can most definitely make it work but my goal would be to optimize the workload, while also preserving a pure vanilla profile state in either manager - which is why i had suggested MO2 Root Builder being similar to vortex in process
vortex keeps the root folder clean?
cause i remember having to install fo4se to the root folder with vortex
Yup. Its had root support since launch
never knew that
i jumped off vortex pretty quickly because i had an issue with it an pretty much every vortex support thread becomes “just use mo2 instead”
I'm fluent in both tho so, MO2 i can do
& i won't bother with vortex details etc
alright
Ok so, i installed morroblivion but placed everything in a mod folder that i put into mo2
that looks to be all that was needed
i'll throw in my observations tonight
is it possible to redirect install paths
so what i did was
- download the installer and the resources
- use the installer
- take the morroblivion esm out of the data folder and into a mod folder
- extract all the resources into said mod folder
- putting the mod folder into mo2
the morroblivion folder looks like this
did you straight up delete Oblivion .esm
no
its grayed out so mo2 doesnt let you reorder/disable it
cause you know
its the main esm
at first glance that looks destructive
it was grayed out before i installed morroblivion
is it still physically in your Data folder tho
yeah
i didnt make any changes to the actual data folder
aside from removing the esm the installer placed
all the oblivion dlc is there too
i'll have to run through it myself
to better understand pic posted
ill try running the game
i havent been able to until now, stuff came up
ah i see
whats confusing you?
not confused so much as more wondering the damage installer does for other vanilla profile
all it does is put the esm in the data folder
thats it
the resources folder has the stuff the esm actually uses
honestly
i think the installer is just to make sure people using the mod actually have both games
could be 100% wrong though
on my phone i didn't see Oblivion
in right pane. My eye glazed over
ooooh
thats the morroblivion mod folder
not the oblivion data folder
thats why you dont see it
OH
i see now
if it's simpler than expected than good
I'm still going to run thru Root Builders
& do a full test for its profile swaps etc
yeah
it was pretty much following the official instructions but instead of the oblivion data folder, its a mod folder
of course
now comes the testing
Does it pass a steam verification check
meant if it tries to replace any files
I'll find out soon enough. No worry
how would i know if such a thing occurred
ok
the game seems ok
started in morrowinds prisonship
which is supposed to happen
& Vanilla Oblivion with mod disabled?
Interesting. Nehrim one was more complicated
i think this was easier to do than ttw ironically
how did nehrim work?
looks like its on steam
did that not make it easier?
i don't remember details atm except that it was probably more like ttw in that it shoves a whole bunch of extra shit in root ÷ cpl vanilla file edit. Didn't try the steam version's copy at the time
all ttw puts in the root is the 4gb patch and nvse
in fact anything the guide says to put in the root folder is stuff that you would just want in general
like performance boosters
which can all be managed by Root Builder
yeah but its stuff id just want in general and thus, not remove
thats just me personally
my rule is nothing left unmanaged
Moot point for now. Glad it works
but idea is to be completely clean
yep
mission accomplished it seems
i wanted to be able to control morroblivion with mo2 and i got that so
im calling this a success
Challenge
denied
denied?
i wanted something difficult
why tf does this even need an installer
like i said
i think its a way to check if the person actually owns the games
to avoid legal issues
thats just my guess though
what legal issues
i dont know, piracy?
im just spitballin
Unless resources are MW assets
which means it's already pirating
maybe the morrooblivon esm uses your morrowind files?
nope. It's absolutely pointless
i guess you could always ask them
i think they have a discord
i am actually interested in this now
what does the installer do
installs an .esm & then updates it
but then theres a seperate exe the also updates the esm
yeah
i suppose it doesnt really matter
as long as it works, yknow
i'm thinking resources are ripped
i was thinking that too
thats what ttw does
ttw installer actually converts it
& doesn't provide any resource
Except for nvse & JIP magically
ah
makes you wonder how morroblivion works
i meant like
how does it combine the games
distributing pirated content
i kinda wanna ask now
youd think id get an answer
maybe we should delete this thread
oh yeah lol
i dont think you actually delete threads
itll just auto archive if we stop talking in it
private server ones you can
i dont see a delete button
maybe it's restricted by settings
yeah, its just a mod. Nothing special..
only thing extra did was redirect esm
so that i could skip manual importing
it'd be like posting your ttw mod
very curious on how the hell this works now
Run converter option for "advanced" users
By running that converter package
so like
it converts the morrowind esps into the morroblivion esm?
sorry im new to all this
& the assets that resources provides
i see
which is why ttw installer takes so long
wait
so the morroblivion installer converts the morrowind files into the morroblivion esm
what does the ttw installer do then
the converter package is a less fancy way of doing what ttw installer automates but they just skip that & slap it into resources download
I'm assuming not automatic vs zilovs installer
morroblivions install was a lot faster than ttws though
then again
morrowind is a lot smaller than fallout 3
bc it's not really doing the conversion
Yea
how so
this is all purely for curiositys sake
Bc it doesn't provide the final output
Imagine not having that resource file
morroblivion has 2 downloads while ttw is one
All exe does is "unlock" the final .esm
then the resources are what the esm uses to work
& what converter package would give you
Maybe too many users had trouble with it
E.g. Look how much issue ttw users have
& that's with a automated converter exe
thats true
on the ttw theres so many people who just didnt read the guide
ttw installer's fairly self explanatory
& easily redirected for a root install
MO2 Data split just complicates it
versus one target output directory
that doesn't have to be game itself
My final say on this is no support
unless doing full conversions exe
which looks stupidly complicated
i feel like for a lot of people stuff like that isnt too important though
what matters is we figured out you can have morroblivion can be controlled by mo2
even if its a bit unwieldy
it could be handled by nmm or any manager
well what i mean is we can make it so a manager can well
manage it
thats all i was trying to accomplish at least
im glad you got something more out of it though
i wanted something to test Root Builder on
so i'm gong to write new ttw install instead
i see
well i hope you gain new insight with that, since morroblivion didnt change the root
i'm going to try Nehrim installer again
ooooooo
im interested in how that goes
