Removing Armor does not update player visuals.

So I'm stuck in fur armor. I can unequip it in the inventory and NPCs will comment on my nakedness, but visually I'm still wearing a full set, helmet, boots, body. Weapons and shield can be removed normally. Equipping any other outfit still shows my fur armor. NPCs will no longer comment on nakedness when I equip another clothing item.
NPCs wear their normal items, and follower can change items normally.

What can I look for? What controls the texture change on the PC model?

Immersive Equipment Display has no armor settings that I can see. I disabled it in the backspace menu config and nothing changed

Reloading a previous save has the same issue, except my very first one in helgen keep near the end cave
