Hello Godot Community! I'm currently making a game, and I've been developing it in Unreal Engine 5, but recently I've wanted to try Godot (for optimisation purposes). The combat/movement is heavily inspired by FromSoftware's Dark Souls series, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring. Attached are some previews of the project in Unreal Engine 5 and some references from the mentioned games. Be sure to emphasize game feel. I do not want a combat/movement system that feels stiff, rigid, or simply not fun to use
The submission must include:

  • WASD Movement with Controller-Joystick support
  • Jumping, Running, Vaulting(preferable), Rolling, Backstepping
  • Combat (Melee Attacking with sword, Plunging attack, Jump attack, blocking, etc.)
  • Character model with animations (prototype model okay)
  • Fully functioning collisions
  • Camera lock-on system

Payment can be between 40-55USD and it is very negotiable. Please consider.

Question:

Are you saying $40-55 USD for ALL of that work?

i think i'll just say that the budget is highly negotiable

Are you sure you are only looking for an Artist?
"Character model with animations"seems to be the only thing and artist would provide imo. The rest like collisions and mechanics like backstabbing sounds more like you need a programmer. 🤔

You're going to have a really hard time finding what you need for such little pay, I think. Anybody willing to take the job probably won't be able to deliver on what you're looking for. Meanwhile, I can do the job, but I charge a lot more than $100 USD for this kind of work, and people tell me I undercharge.

I'd recommend sourcing a bit more of a budget, maybe look into grants or take out a bank loan. You'll have better chances of meeting your goals with more scratch, in this instance.

Hello, I think it's doable for 2000 USD. 🙂
100 USD is unrealistic, this is what one pays for an asset from marketplace. If the asset is sold many copies, it's profitable. But if it's sold just one copy, it's a flop.

So, do you already have the animations made? If not, you are going to need two people an animator and a programmer. Each should ask for at least 2000

You're also gunna have a hard time with this in Godot. Not impossible but unreal is way more suited to shit like this.

Alright folks, no need to keep dogging on the guy. Not understanding the market isn't a crime. All we were doing was explaining the reality of it, but it's gotten a bit too far now.

Oh, looks like he left the server...

They're also not in the server anymore unless my discord is bugging out, so there's no need to keep bumping this thread up

Without making fun of you sir, in all seriousness

Gamedevelopment is a costly business if you want a job properly done. What you ask for is a job only a professional or exceptionally talented hobbiest with substantial experience could pull of.

But outside of that it requires months of work and refining and even with a VERY low hourly wage of 15 bucks atleast in the range of 850 to 4000 if you find somebody that good for that cheap.

As I have been in that position before, go find somebody who needs it for the resume, already working on that, provide him/her with a complete plan with the game, scale it very small and make a great contract.

Nobody is going to create this for you for that cheap just so you can profit off of it.
