because I'd join lol
also, all particles are just shaders. Just use #shaders-and-vfx
There's too many help channels as is. If you were looking to make a design/discussion channel, I would support that
its linked at the bottom of the article!
it's a separate place because i wanted to have something a bit less fast moving and where we can have more "community" around VFX. in here things move super fast, people come and go. I prefer trying to create a smaller group where people know each other a little at least and can help each other grow ^^
i think you can still get quick answers if you have quick questions
maybe just renaming #shaders-and-vfx to #shaders-and-vfx-and-vfx could be enough ^^
I'd be fine with renaming the channel!
As for the argument of "too specific":
We had this in the past with other channels. The problem is that niche channels attract questions in that niche, while it usually does not attract people who answer. To illustrate it, imagine a channel for colors. And then a specific channel for the color red. People who have questions about red will ask there. But usually all people who know about colors can answer those questions. But those people won't really check out red if it's not their special interest.
This isn't only a theoretic point, we had this with other channels in the past.
But if enough people want to try a specific particles channels, I won't block this. We can try it for a while and see if it works.
But I personally would prefer just renaming the existing channel to make it clear it's for all questions.
I'll wait if other mods have any objections, but otherwise I'll rename to shaders-and-vfx tomorrow
