i imagine this isn't a particularly new suggestion, but a 2d topic channel like #3d might be a good idea? there are quite a few subjects that don't quite fit in with other channels like
- tileset and tilemap settings that aren't directly physics (terrains, autotiling, how to use their *very dense* editor, etc)
- visual stuff that doesn't really fit #art (doing stuff with Line2D, Polygon2D; questions about spritesheets and layers and putting them together)
- 2D lighting ("how does this work?", performance impact, "how can i make this look good?")
- 2D pathfinding!
- "how do i make [X] with 2D particles?"
- messing around with viewports, like putting a 3D object into a 2D scene
- "should i use a UI element or a canvas item for this?"
- YSort, CanvasGroup and other 2D specific things
again, i imagine this has been proposed before. i searched if anyone had proposed one before, but didn't find any explanation or reasoning behind the lack of one, so if there's an established reason that i missed, tell me.
