I grew up with Source and Amnesia games. Both these engines/games have a very distinct moveset that "clicks" and a lot of ways to interact with the environment. I'm mostly done with the main character controller and now working on physics interaction.

I just love those slip sounds but I need to find the sweet spot. Too few of them and the player will jump every time it happens and wonder what they just did, too much and it will become annoying

I'm still not sure if I want to include a lot of more "presence" sounds, such as breathing, panting and other mouse sounds

looks really nice! you should try adding those sounds in, they would probably fit really well
