cool , what are y use for create that dash effect ? particle or shader?

heady sail
#

that's a lot of overhead

#

at the very least use one node and store an array of past positions

#

It's a list of things

#

unrelated, qq

#

did you create a new sprite for each of those tiles?

#

phew

#

I could try to make a placeholder tilemap rq

#

What theme are you going for?

heady sail
#

looks nice, but the background kinda makes them blend in

heady sail
#

You could use another tilemap and use Godot's parallax.

#

your game looks cool

you're welcome

What were the inspirations for this game?

@sweet vessel I also just made a parallax for my game, it definitely looks like a v1 attempt. I have a fair bit of vertical travel in my levels which I didn't think about when making the background. The background cuts off when I go too far up or down. I think your trees are not moving correctly compared to their background depth though, the closest background should move fastest and further back should be slow. You could also scale the trees smaller and fade the colour as they go further back to show depth. The trick with motion is adjusting the ratio between the motion scale property of all layers until it all looks good.

This is an ok example of showing depth through scale and fade

#

Your trees are huge, which isn't a bad thing but it makes the blob feel tiny. Maybe that makes sense though

#

You can give texture with a few colours on the trunks

#

Maybe you need a 'mood board' kind of thing so you can get your references for the style

#

Might take some trial and error to get something you're happy with I guess

lmao I had an idea about something like this once, I just had the idea of a slime sticking to each wall that it touches and started a little development until forgetting about the project 💀

#

I might, but I'll have to get a fresh start lmao because I was using pygame which isn't really a game engine, and since now I have learned Godot it will be a lot nicer

#

Thank you though!

Looks alright to me! Maybe it snaps too quick? But it might be better that way. One possible solution is to add an in-between frame of animation.

Looking again, I'm not sure. I think it might be perfectly fine like it is.gdunacceptable
