Hello everyone!
I wanted to continue the topic about NMRIH2s pacing, but in this discussion, I’d like to list out a couple of solutions people have offered in the previous discussion listed here: https://discord.com/channels/211900829307895819/1388185730945122324
Make sure to click on the pin in the suggestion to read what was posted.

Without further ado, let’s list some of the solutions offered:

  • Nerf stamina recharge rate
  • Allow stamina to recharge while holding a charged attack
  • Implement the Devour Mechanic
  • Increase the amount of player actions that cost stamina. Jumping and vaulting being two of them set as examples.
  • Make the walking speed of zombies varied instead of just one set speed.
  • Allow players to start private lobbies with one person instead of two. Essentially, implement the option to play solo.
  • Improve on the stealth mechanic as it is currently unclear and a bit confusing when it comes to zombie interactions.
  • In the same vein, implement the smell mechanic from the legacy build since we already have a sight and audio mechanic for zombies. Because we don’t know how it worked, apart from staying in one place for too long would increase your scent, having the mechanic work differently indoors with entrances and exits closed and windows unbroken could be a good idea.

  • Make walkers turn temporarily into runners after devouring a corpse, whether a player or a corpse in the environment.
  • Implement additional things to do such as doing mini-objectives, notes, collecting lore documents, and collecting additional items/resources for doing objectives.
  • Implement randomized objective paths at POIs to encourage new ways of playing said POI and obligate players to improvise/think on the spot.
  • Keep the current dynamic spawning of zombies to encourage players to think on the spot on how they will approach a POI. An example of this would be how certain houses on Pottsville will either be empty and have a huge group of zombies outside or the complete reverse.
  • Allow Shamblers to scream again and again after a certain grace period between screams.
