#Constructive Feedback Regarding the 2-Hour Mod Limit

I’ve been using this platform since the WeMod era, and I wanted to give honest feedback as someone who genuinely used to enjoy the service and wants to see it succeed long term.

I understand that mod creators deserve compensation for keeping trainers updated. I do not think developers or contributors should work for free. However, the recently introduced 2-hour restriction for free users feels less like encouragement to upgrade and more like forced monetization.

The issue is not that premium exists. The issue is how aggressively the free experience was reduced.

A 2-hour limit may sound reasonable on paper, but from an actual gaming perspective, it is extremely restrictive. Many games barely open up mechanically within the first two hours. For players who use mods casually — not to destroy games, but to make them more enjoyable or less frustrating — hitting a hard timer completely breaks immersion and often kills the session entirely.

When my timer expires mid-session, I usually just save and quit because the experience no longer feels enjoyable. That creates frustration associated directly with the platform itself.

I also think the current direction misunderstands what made the service appealing in the first place. The original appeal of WeMod was accessibility, convenience, and freedom. The newer system feels increasingly focused on premium pressure and feature expansion rather than preserving the core user experience.

Features like interactive maps and other premium additions are fine in theory, but many users never asked for those systems. Meanwhile, the basic functionality people originally came for is now heavily restricted.

A healthier approach would be a tiered system instead of a hard time gate.

For example:

Free Tier:

  • Limited number of basic mods
  • Simpler utility options
  • Standard gameplay enhancements

Premium Tier:

  • Full trainer access
  • Advanced mods
  • Interactive systems
  • Expanded customization
  • Additional convenience features

That kind of model encourages users to WANT premium because it adds value, rather than making free users feel punished until they subscribe.

There is also a practical issue here: several competitors already offer functional free tiers with optional premium upgrades at lower prices. If users begin feeling forced into paying rather than choosing to support the platform voluntarily, many will simply move elsewhere instead of converting into subscribers.

Good monetization creates goodwill first and purchases second.

I’m writing this because I’ve used the platform for years and would rather see it improve than continue moving in a direction that feels increasingly disconnected from the community that originally supported it.

Hey @restive raven Thank you for writing this, genuinely. Every word of it has been read and noted.
You're right that the 2-hour limit hits differently in practice than it looks on paper, and a session cut short mid-playthrough is frustration we don't want associated with Wand. The free tier resets every midnight but we hear you that it's not enough for how many players actually game.
Your tiered model suggestion has been passed to the team, it's a constructive idea and you're not alone in raising it. Really glad you're still here and willing to share this honestly. That means a lot..froglove
