#HKIA Mod Freezes Entire System on Exit

Hi! I wanted to report an issue with the Hello Kitty Island Adventure mod on WeMod.

Whenever closing the game, it consistently freezes on a black screen. The system becomes completely unresponsive, and even when pressing Ctrl + Alt + Shift doesn’t allow switching to other programs or interacting with anything.

The only way to recover is by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete and signing out (or fully shutting down the computer).

This doesn’t seem to be an isolated issue, everyone I know using the mod is experiencing the same problem.

It also doesn’t seem tied to a specific version of the mod. I’ve tried different versions (including older ones), and the issue still happens

Would really appreciate it if this could be looked into or if there’s any known fix/workaround. Thank you!

Hey @hoary sluice! Thanks for getting in touch. We've tested the trainer a fair amount recently and haven't seen any other reports like this since one in December, so it's more likely something on the PC side than the mod itself.

A few basics worth checking:
— GPU drivers up to date?
— Windows fully updated?
— Anything running in the background competing for resources?
— System temps looking okay? A hard freeze on exit can sometimes point to thermal throttling.

Let us know if none of that helps and we'll dig further!

I’ve checked the basics you mentioned:
— GPU drivers are up to date
— Windows is fully updated
— No heavy background apps running
— Temps are normal (no overheating)

It also doesn’t seem tied to a specific version of the trainer. I’ve tried different versions (including older ones), and the same freeze still happens, even on versions that didn’t seem to have this issue before.

I also wanted to add something important that might help.

Before, (like some weeks ago) when closing the game, I started getting full screen crashes (BSOD), not just freezes that had already been a persistent issue for longer.The stop codes were related to driver issues (e.g., vgk.sys – Riot Vanguard).

After uninstalling Vanguard, the BSODs stopped, but the issue still happens as a hard freeze on a black screen instead.

So it seems like something about closing the game with the trainer is triggering a driver-level conflict, and removing Vanguard only reduced the severity rather than fixing it.

Also, since multiple users are experiencing the same freeze on exit, it feels like there might be some kind of interaction happening during shutdown between the trainer and certain system drivers.

Hey @hoary sluice! Thanks for the detailed info. Full PC freezes, BSODs, and applications not responding can all be tied to hardware related events like failing RAM or an aging storage device, it's worth ruling those out. I'm also trying to track down the other users you're mentioning as I haven't been receiving any related tickets lately. The last one we had was yours from before Christmas and we never heard back from you after that! Would you also mind sharing your PC specs with us?

Here are my specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU (with integrated AMD Radeon Graphics)
RAM: 32 GB
Storage: 2 TB SSD

Regarding other users , I’ve seen the same issue happen to other people as well, but most people I play with don't care enough to report it. So I understand it might look isolated from your side.

Also just to reiterate, the issue only happens when closing the game with the trainer active. The system is otherwise stable, and the behavior changed after uninstalling Vanguard (from BSODs to freezes), which is why I’m leaning more toward a software/driver interaction.
