Once again, all my Games Mods are deleted due to new version update...

Hey Sergio! Thanks for bringing this up again.

Right now mod configurations and app settings are stored locally on each installation, so if the app data gets reset during an update, reinstall, or when switching between beta/stable builds, the app can start fresh and the configured mods won’t carry over.

The team is aware this isn’t ideal, and feedback about saving mod settings across installs or syncing them (for example through the cloud) has already been passed to the engineers. Unfortunately there isn’t an update on that feature yet.

There’s actually a feature request in the Hub that’s very similar to what you’re asking for here:

please tell me how can i put that previous backup to make wand use it, or, if it's not possible also

Appreciate you sharing Wand on your channel and testing so many games! that kind of feedback really helps. Wand stores its local app data in your Windows AppData folders. The main locations are usually:

-C:\Users<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Wand
-C:\Users<your username>\AppData\Local\Wand

If you previously made a backup of those folders, in theory you could try replacing the current folders with the backed-up ones while the app is completely closed. That said, restoring configs this way isn’t officially supported and may not always work, especially if the backup is from an older version of the app.

Unfortunately there isn’t currently a built-in way to restore mod configurations from backups or sync them across installs yet.

the ones you mention i already test them and they replace ALL files, i'm askign what folder/s are specific or file that has the mod saved

if i replace all it wont' load obviously

Thanks for checking those folders and sharing the screenshots, I see what you mean.

I don’t want to point you to a specific file or folder for the mod configurations unless I can confirm it’s the correct one, since restoring individual files incorrectly could break the install. From what I know, most of the app data is stored in the Roaming and Local folders you already checked, but I want to double-check with the team to see if there’s a specific file that stores the mod configuration per game.

Let me ask internally and see if we can confirm whether there’s a way to restore that from a backup or if the configs are tied to the current install/version. I’ll update you here once I have more info.

Hey @stoic meadow Thank you for reaching out. To help us understand the issue better, local data is only cleared during a full uninstall of the app. It should not be affected by updates, or logging out.

Could you confirm whether you've been performing full reinstalls? If so, that would explain the data being cleared, as this is expected behavior during a complete uninstall. If not, this may be a bug we'd like to investigate further.

Since we release updates approximately once a week, could you let us know if this is happening weekly or only after a specific action on your end?

Also, for your reference, your user data is stored in AppData/Roaming/Wand (or AppData/Roaming/WeMod). The AppData/Local folder only contains the app installation and does not hold any user data.

thanks for your reply Patrick, no...i didn't do anyting i was on the beta version as i test it from last year and reported to Sephy on that times...and when i was going to play ALL my mods were gone and there was a new version, this NEVER happened to me ever...but i did have the problem yes when i changed PC, reinstalls etc, but on updating versions never bro

i also asked before like a month ago and i was treated very bad i don't recall the username

i just asked why this keeps happening and well...i just told him to treat me fair, i'm a pro user from many years and i also show your software on my YouTube Channel without asking you guys anything

this happened to me yesterday and ALL my mods were gone bro, i already told to eimajamie

just recieved a notification NEW VERSION and all gone, so i inmediately asked you why?

but well, hope you improve a cloud storage or something to be aware on this, i play 21 titles man...it really suck to be doing all again...

Thanks again for sharing all the details. I checked in with the team, and based on what we know, updates shouldn’t normally wipe saved mod configs, and we haven’t made recent changes that would affect that behavior. That’s why we’re trying to narrow down what might’ve caused it in your case.

If you still have a backup, one thing you can try is replacing this folder while the app is completely closed:
Roaming/Wand/Local Storage

That’s where mod configs are typically stored, so there’s a chance it may bring some or all of your setup back.

Also, just to double-check, was there any chance your Pro subscription lapsed briefly or that you might’ve been logged into a different (free) account when the update happened? That could sometimes make it look like everything reset. Appreciate you sticking with us for so long and even sharing Wand on your channel! it really means a lot. Let me know if the restore works or if you’re still running into issues, and we’ll keep digging with you.

would be nice to develop a small tool to make a backup at least manuall, that can take minutes for a good dev, i'm a dev so i know

it' very hard for me that i have a channel with 25K subs and 41 games to face this issues, hope you understand me
