#The new branding is... not good.

A trapping that most people when they criticize change fall into, tends to be the very common - if disguised - argument of "But the LAST thing was better! I want the thing before it changed!"

I'm going to try and criticise without falling into that trapping, because if the branding is to change I'm not one to personally hold it back. Things should change, c'est la vie.

I have two problems with the new branding, the name and the color.

Firstly, I don't think Mod Manager when I hear "Wand". Frankly, I think of something a bit more explicit and a bit more naughty. The definition of what a Wand is has changed, and though I can understand it through the "With a wave of your wand, the experience is changed!" I think of the toy. Honestly, MagicMod or ModWand or something to the effect would've elicited something more positive, but the name needs to be reinterpreted.

Secondly, the color. The kind of green-ish yellow is painful on the eyes to look at for long amounts of time, and it feels far too sports-like. Videogames can and often do have sports elements, or are just about sports, but the tennis ball green color pains the eyes to look at. Something more subtle, like a dark purple or maybe a forest green, something that signals "Calm" or "Relax" might be better for a color.

I have no criticisms of the logo rebrand, however. I actually like it! It's sleek and modern, minimalistic but form and functional! A+ honestly.

Also, I only have one other criticism not related to the branding, and it's that "upcoming games" should be re-added to the sidebar next to your library. It felt weird when it was changed and I occasionally have to search through the main menu to try and find it when I wanna get excited for what you guys are updating.

Either way, besides the colour and name, good job on the logo redesign! I hope you guys keep up the good work and maintenance, and I hope your days are going well!

I just popped into this discord for the first time in like 4 months and the first thing I see if the new color and I must agree, it is incredibly harsh to look at. With the old logo/name/colors it was sleek, cool, stylish and stood out in a great way but with this new color scheme it's very off putting.

Secondly, I also agree with the name change being a bad idea. While i'm not opposed to WeMod becoming something else as they've have been and have been wanting to expand and grow but in the long run I think it's going to hinder them. I had no idea what this server was at first when I saw the announcements channel and the logo, I didn't remember ever being in a Discord server about wand's or that had anything to do with a wand/magic and if I had decided that instead of viewing this server for the first time today to have viewed it say mid next year, I would have immediately left the server and I wouldn't know to look for "wand" instead of "wemod" when looking for the mod launcher to redownload it in the future.

I fully support the want to re-brand and/or to venture into more possibilities but I don't think the current name/color is going to work for it. I think if they had done something like "We're making a secondary company apart of WeMod called Wand (or maybe like WeGame would be better, I'm going with that for now lol) that will allow us to expand and venture into new idea's that will expand gamer's capabilities to play your own way. WeMod will continue to be the game modding and trainer powerhouse that you've all come to enjoy while also allowing us to continue to grow without affecting how we currently operate. Those who are already subscribed or signed up with WeMod will automatically be upgraded to WeGame and will continue to be able to access WeMod and WeGame while new accounts that get created will also be able to enjoy both as well. Our subscription models will not change and you'll be able to access both WeMod and our future endeavors in WeGame through one client, allowing you to use and choose what works best for your playstyle!"

I think if it was like that it would be great, allowing them to expand while keeping users new and old able to find WeMod no matter what and to show that WeMod as we know it right now will still be WeMod.

At the very least, I just hope they'll change the color. There was nothing wrong with the old color scheme imo and would fit just as well for "Wand" instead of tennisball green

Hey! Really appreciate you taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback - and I'm glad you're digging the logo redesign!
On colors:
I hear you on the brightness. Just to reiterate what I've mentioned in other threads - usability and accessibility are top priorities for us, especially in the app itself. Our brand presence in different places (web, marketing, product) has different needs and approaches. That said, if the colors ever negatively impact your experience using the app, please let us know here. We really value that accountability.
Also worth noting - brand systems aren't set in stone. They evolve, and we'll keep learning from how people respond.
On "Upcoming games" in sidebar:
Appreciate the feedback on this! We've received a few comments about it and are discussing it internally. Can't commit to anything right now, but it's definitely a topic of conversation on the product team.
On keeping WeMod/Wand separate:
I can't really comment on the specifics of this approach, but I do appreciate the time you took to think through and share that suggestion. It's clear you care about the product and community.

Thanks again for the kind words and the constructive criticism. Hope your days are going well too!

Thanks for responding at all~! Lotsa communities have this feedback section but don't respond, so it's nice to get anythin' at all lmao

Honestly I'm more excited that you guys are discussing it at all internally. It's really weird and jarring to go from having all the knowledge of what games are and aren't getting updated to having to look for it each time because it's obscured infront of my schnoz

Oh no I know that, it's just that my brain goes "Why isn't it on the side bar?" and it's so jarring that I literally miss it even though it's got "COMING SOON UPCOMING GAMES" in it sfadkjasfnasdf

We actually want to make that page more useful. We found that while some users were using it, the VAST majority of our users didn’t find it very helpful or visit it often so it made sense to deprioritise it. We have a bunch of ideas on what we could do to make it more useful, and if you have any ideas or suggestions - share away!

Honestly? The ability to customize the side-bar might help alleviate that issue, y'know?

Everything's on the main menu, having the ability to click a little + icon to add it to the sidebar and a little X icon on the sidebar to remove things you want would alleviate a lot of issues. Like, I've only ever used the Library and upcoming games tabs, even things like favourites weren't used by me.

I understand not being able to remove the Wand Pro bit though, gotta get your bag and I respect it lol
