#Misery - WeMod unable to find and start the game
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
When I try to launch the game with We Mod after manually selecting the Win64 shipping exe, it doesn't do anything. When I try to launch via the main exe file, Steam tells me the game is trying to run with different parameters. When I say "OK," it still doesn't read the game at all.
What i don't understand is why its that game specifically and not the other games. Is it because of how the trainer was made or is it something completely related with something different?
Hi @gilded imp, since you added the game manually, try removing the custom .exe first.
Then try reinstalling both the game and the WeMod app to see if the game is detected automatically. Just make sure to load the game fully first as this helps in automatically detecting it too.
Custom exe?
I already did it like 4 times. I also tried running the game first then wemod but it never detected the game automatically. I verified the game files and also tried to install it on different drives after i completely removed the game and wemod and cleaned the left over files in appdata.
I mean the custom game .exe file. Kindly remove that first if you haven't yet, @gilded imp.
Have you tried launching Steam and the game first without opening the WeMod app yet? Once you’re in the game world, wait a few minutes (around five or less) before opening WeMod to see if that helps.
I did yes
Didnt work
I did that, i added the exe from the main install folder.
Got it. So removing the added file, reinstalling both the app and the game, then launching the game first before opening the app didn’t help it automatically detect the game, right?
Just to check, are you having trouble with the app too? Were you able to get it to connect to the game after manually adding it?
No app doesnt detect the game at all and as i said other games work completely fine its specifically happening for this game.
I see, but after manually adding the game, were you able to use WeMod with it?
Please try the following reinstallation steps as well, just to ensure everything is set up correctly.
**1.**Use Add or Remove Programs or Control Panel to uninstall WeMod.
**2.**Find and delete these folders:
-C:\Users\Your_Name\AppData\Local\WeMod
-C:\Users\Your_Name\AppData\Roaming\WeMod
**3.**Restart your PC.
**4.**Reinstall WeMod by downloading from: https://api.wemod.com/client/download
No i havent been able to use the trainer at all since it never got detected the game when its running when i tried to run it with wemod and without it.
It always says "we are having trouble finding or running your game" or something like that no matter what i do
I did these after you told me to for 5th time and the result is still the same.
May I know which antivirus software you're currently using?
Windows defender
I had no issues with any game before ever since i started using wemod. It just happened with this game.
Hey @gilded imp We’ve just tested this trainer and didn’t encounter any issues loading in. I recommend following the reinstall steps again, but before restarting, clean up your PC and run a scan to check for any corrupted Windows files. Then restart your PC and try again.
- Use Add or Remove Programs or Control Panel to uninstall WeMod.
- Find and delete these folders:
-C:\Users\Your_Name\AppData\Local\WeMod
-C:\Users\Your_Name\AppData\Roaming\WeMod - Restart your PC.
- Reinstall WeMod by downloading from: https://api.wemod.com/client/download
It's possible that your antivirus software is causing interference. Try whitelisting or adding exceptions for the following folders:
C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\WeMod
C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\WeMod
okay so i want to ask that before doing the same steps, when you guys tested that trainer, the app was able to detect the game automatically? Does the installation drive matter? and as i stated before, i have no issues with any other game to use the app with, so what can be the main issue here so i can focus on investigating that if doing the same steps wouldn't work again, just in case?
and if i have to manually pick the exe again should i go for the main "misery.exe" or the win64 shipping exe? I tried them both and neither of them worked to make the app connect to the game.
I followed the exact same steps and result is the same again.
The weird thing is, i can start the game with wemod but trainer doesnt get loaded when i use the play now button at the other side. If it cant find the mod how come i can be able to launch the game with wemod?
When i use this button here it says it cant find the running game but still launches the game without trainer loaded.
I also ran the cmd command to verify and fix if there is any corrupt files but even after that its still the same.
Hey Faahresc, we’ll go ahead and submit this for review. Could you also confirm your build ID number? You can find it under your Steam game’s properties.
This one?
Also, i wanna note what i did so far to make it work
1- I followed the suggested steps without skipping anything five times and deleted the roaming and local We Mod files completely after removing the app. I excluded folders that were mentioned here every time I reinstalled the game and We Mod, restarted the PC, and tried to run the game with and without We Mod. Then, I tried to run the trainer, and none of them worked.
2- I tried to pick the exe manually, both the standard exe and win64.shipping.exe
3- I tried to reinstall the game and cleaned the leftover files every time
4- I reinstalled the game on different drives when i removed each time
5- I tried downloading the wemod from the link mentioned, which didnt work either
I also checked if i had any corrupt Windows files with the cmd command sfc/ scannow and my files were fine.
I did everything i possibly could and nothing worked. As i said that is the only game i had issues that much ever since i started using wemod.
My other games still work fine with wemod.
Hi! Our testing team provided an update and confirmed that the trainer is working as intended or the app is detecting the gam. What we could suggest you is to reinstall Wand app and check if it works. You can also disable completely the windows defender, restart your PC and check if that works. Thanks!
I did the same thing and again nothing is changed. Im not a newbie with this kind of stuff and i even did a deep cleaning of the game files and wemod with regedit. I dont have any issues with any other game except this one.
This is noted. Could you disable the Enable New Wand Overlay via settings>Customization and check if issue persists?
New wand overlay? I use a different language can you show me where it is with a screen shot?
No worries! Please click your username>Settings>Customization> And disable the enable New Wand Overlay then check if issue persists.
thanks for the screenshot and no sadly it didnt work.
Thanks for letting us know! May I know your current region?
europe
and you are welcome.
🙂
Thank you for the update! This is noted.
May I ask if your game has an option in its settings to change your region or language to English? If so, please try switching it to English and check if the issue still persists afterward.
This can sometimes help resolve compatibility or display-related issues within Wand.
Ok just a heads up. I was right about my guess. Changing the OS language from turkish to english fixed the issue for me. You guys might wanna look for some compatibility stuff for turkish language or whatever is the reason related with it.
@reef gull@rocky island
I also noticed at least 10 of my other games had the same issue after i changed the OS language to english those 10 games were added to wemod automatically.
you guys might wanna look more into that.
