The game crashes after a few seconds of pressing the play button, during and after launching the game. I’m guessing it happened after the update not too long ago.

It's possible that your antivirus software is causing interference. Try whitelisting or adding exceptions for the following folders:
- C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\WeMod

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\WeMod
