and it is just the item mods. the others work fine

We totally understand your concern. Although I don’t own the game myself, I wanted to suggest a potential workaround. If the game has a save slot feature, you could try creating a new save game and then attempt to use the trainer to see if it works.

kk. I just cycled through. Saved to a new file, shut down both the game and Wemod, and restarted both as administrator. Still no luck.
