Having interactive maps as an app rather than the browser version, is completely AWESOME, not only that, but it can be a revenue generating and image boosting opportunity. It would be a lost opportunity to not add interactive maps for non-moddable games, such as Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves or MMOs, like Guild Wars 2 or WoW, etc..
- It would solve core frustrations for completionists, collectors, lore seekers, achievement hunters etc...
In games without interactive maps players often struggle with:
- Navigation
- Missing collectibles
- Forgetting quest locations
- Not knowing where to farm or grind
Since they can’t install quality-of-life mods, interactive maps act as a seamless external enhancement, letting players enjoy a smoother and more rewarding experience.
- An App is better than a browser
While browser-based maps are helpful, a dedicated, feature-rich mobile and/or desktop app blows them out of the water with:
- Seamless in-game use without alt-tabbing or twisting your neck to your second monitor
- Reduces friction and enhances interaction
- You can play and plan on the go
- Making pins, marks, or highlighting specific objectives
- Tracking what is completed
- Filtering
- All-in-one functionality (If it can be expanded with the game AI that can help you with tips etc.., even better)
Feedback: Adding social/community features to share custom pins or routes) would boost interactivity
- This app could and maybe already does drive player retention and community growth
- It can make players stay longer in the game (by knowing what to do next)
- Revisit content to complete their collections
- Discover things they missed on their frist playthrough
- All without needing the browser
And when players see the depth and completeness of the APP, they’re more likely to recommend it to others. Community engagement increases naturally when people share locations, builds, and tips via the app.
- All without needing the browser
- It could possibly improve the revenue
- Keep the current freemium model, it is awesome
- Have certain strong features behind the PRO model
- If the person plays a game such as AC: Origins, promote other games similar or from the same Company, to keep players engaged after they finish their current game
- This so far from the I think year long I've used it is a highly polished, and official looking companion app, which could go further by expanding to online games with interactive maps
In conclusion, creating a feature-rich interactive map for non-moddable games isn't just a quality of life addon, it's a strategic opportunity:
- No browser needed
- In-game overlay
- A helpful AI
- Solves critical pain points for players
- Can build a loyal and active community
- Extends the life of the games played
- Boosts the game's reputation and the App's
- There is no competitor, nobody is so advanced as this app is
