hi could someone please show mw how to do the stuff for elden ring to work im new to pc and dont know how to look at that thanks

Step 1: Find Your Elden Ring Installation Folder

  1. Open Steam (the blue icon on your desktop or Start menu)
  2. Right-click on Elden Ring in your Steam library (left side list of games)
  3. Select "Properties" from the menu that appears
  4. Click the "Local Files" tab at the top
  5. Click "Browse Local Files" - this opens the game folder
  6. Keep this folder window open

Step 2: Create the Steam App ID File

  1. In the same folder where you found eldenring.exe:

  2. Right-click on an empty space (not on any file)

  3. Select "New" → "Text Document"

  4. Name the file exactly: steam_appid.txt

    • Important: Make sure it ends with .txt, not .txt.txt
    • If you can't see file extensions, don't worry - just name it steam_appid

  5. Double-click the file to open it

  6. Type exactly: 1245620

  7. Save the file (Ctrl+S or File → Save)

  8. Close the text editor

Step 3: Launch the Game Properly

Important: Always Do This in Order

  1. Navigate back to your Elden Ring folder (where eldenring.exe is)
  2. Double-click on eldenring.exe to start the game directly
  3. Wait for the game to fully load to the main menu
  4. Click Play
