Trying run WeMod-Setup.exe always leads to a failure with it suggesting I try to download it manually.
Trying to download it manually downloads WeMod-9.19.0.exe, but running it leads to an error saying "Installation has failed."
Also trying to run WeMod-Setup.exe as administrator will get it to attempt an installation, but results in a message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

#

This is when I try to run WeMod-9.19.0.exe

#

Opening the Setup Log doesn't open anything for me

Please follow these steps:

Uninstall WeMod via the Add Or Remove Programs feature found in settings/control panel.
Navigate to these three places and, if these folders still exist on your PC, delete them:

C:\Users\Your_Name\AppData\Local\WeMod

C:\Users\Your_Name\AppData\Local\SquirrelTemp

C:\Users\Your_Name\AppData\Roaming\WeMod

Restart your PC
Download WeMod’s offline installer from this direct link: https://api.wemod.com/client/download Install the software.

I've done all that already

#

Nothing changed

limber tusk
#

What kind of antivirus do you use?

vagrant ivy
#

I had AVG but I already uninstalled it thinking it would solve the problem

limber tusk
#

It was likely flagging something, When you open the setup log absolutely nothing loads in?

vagrant ivy
#

Nothing happens when I try to open it

#

It doesn't open a window

I would try those steps i provided again and make sure you restart your pc, then add the following WeMod folders as exceptions to your antivirus software:

  • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\WeMod
  • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\WeMod
  1. Restart WeMod after adding these exceptions.

If you are unable to whitelist the entire folders, you may need to whitelist the specific files mentioned below:

  • Update.exe, located in C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Local\WeMod
  • WeMod.exe, located in C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Local\WeMod
  • WeModAuxiliaryService.exe, located in C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Local\WeMod\app-VERSION_NUMBER\resources\app.asar.unpacked\static\unpacked\auxiliary
#

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may indicate a system-specific problem. We recommend running a Windows System File Checker to check for any corrupted files on your PC:
1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
3. Allow the scan to complete and follow any on-screen instructions.

If issues are found, Windows will attempt to repair them.

Still nothing...

#

Any other suggestions?

vagrant ivy
#

The whole folder?

#

cause i may have done that, which then deleted the setup log too

You will need to find out why your pc is not allowing you to open the setup log, I would check your antivirus quarantine and make sure your windows is up to date. I have to go to bed now but start with some basic maintenance and checks on your end. If you are able to get the set up log please share it in here and I will review it tomorrow morning.

Alright

#

Goodnight

#

It's the install log

limber tusk
# vagrant ivy Oh here's the Setup Log

Looks like discord is somehow interfering with your install, I would try uninstalling it then try the steps once more once discord is uninstalled and let me know how that goes.

vagrant ivy
#

it wouldnt uninstall using the control panel though

#

so i went into my local and roaming files and deleted the discord folders there

#

and now it wont let me reinstall discord...

#

no idea why

#

still cant install wemod either

#

i manually deleted the files but it still shows discord there at the bottom

#

it just wont uninstall

#

wait it shows i still have wemod there too even though i deleted it....

#

and of course it wont uninstall either

#

at this rate i might just factory reset my computer

Hey there, you might want to give this a shot before doing so.

  • Open the Run dialog on your PC by using WIN + R.
  • You should see a window will appear.
  • In this window, enter "appdata" and click the "OK" button.
  • Then verify the presence of a folder labeled "Squirreltemp" within the "appdata > local" directory.
  • If you do locate a folder named "Squirreltemp," proceed to delete it.
  • Make sure you only remove the "Squirreltemp" folder and avoid deleting any other files or directories.
    Restart your PC
    Now, proceed to reinstall WeMod.

im starting to realize i just cant download anything now?

wanton laurel
#

in your windows account?

vagrant ivy
#

how would i check

wanton laurel
#

A easy way is , is your account an administrator one?

#

The other way might be via checking properties

vagrant ivy
#

I’m being told the issue is caused by my computer having Trojans :)

#

And now I am trying to fix it

limber tusk
#

Download malware bytes or wipe your drives and start a new windows install. AVG is a garbage antivirus and should get rid of it.

limber tusk
vagrant ivy
#

I have not installed Malware Bytes yet. I’ve been following some steps from the PC Help Hub server for malware removal

#

I’ll check back and try it if I cannot find a solution

vagrant ivy
#

Malwarebytes didn't detect any threats

#

but something is still stopping me from installing wemod

vagrant ivy
#

ok something i did worked

#

not sure what but i can redownload discord now

#

surely itll work for wemod too now

#

yes it worked

#

I think the trojan messed with the perms to my Temp folder

#

so after deleting the trojans i just had to change the permissions back

#

everything is good now

#

thank you for your time and assistance
