Hey there. Can you send a screenshot of any errors you're receiving?
Could you please try deleting any WeMod folders from these two locations, then try re-installing WeMod?
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local
and
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming
DO NOT DELETE ALL FILES AND FOLDERS IN THIS LOCATION. ONLY THE WEMOD FOLDERS
The thing is i dont see AppData
AppData is a hidden folder on Windows for a good reason. Adding, deleting and/or editing stuff in there can break things unless you know what you're doing. It's better to copy and paste those locations in the File Explorer address bar
When you do go to the Local and Roaming folders, do NOT delete anything except for the WeMod folders, if they exist there
its not letting me delete the local file but it did for roaming
Try restarting your computer, then try deleting the WeMod folder out of the Roaming location
it is deleted from roaming but wont delete from local, i try dragging it to recycle can can and it doesnt work, and it says likee the files are corrupted
Oh sorry, misread that. Try restarting your computer, then try deleting the WeMod folder out of the Local location
i just did that and nothing happened
What does the error look like exactly when you try to delete it?
gives me no error, just doesnt let me delete
it says "this file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"
Could you try perma-deleting the folder (skips the recycle bin) by holding the Shift key on your keyboard, then pressing the Delete button on your keyboard?
still there😭
Okay, try taking ownership of the folder forcefully, then try deleting it
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator
- Type the following command, or copy and paste it: takeown /f
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\WeMod /r /d y - Press Enter on your keyboard to run the command
Once you've taken ownership of the folder, try deleting it then and see if that works
i copied and paisted what you said to, it js says ERROR: File or Directory not found.
do i add the takeown?
yep
Yep, like that
says same thing unless im typing it wrong
What does it look like on your end?
how do i ss on pc
Using the Snipping Tool application is the easiest way
Nah, %username% is a variable that adds it for you...
oh ok
In that case, give this one a try:
- Open Command Prompt as administrator
- Type the first command, or copy and paste it: cd
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local - Press Enter to run the command
- After the directory has changed, run this new command: rmdir /s /q WeMod
The system cannot find the file specified.
So I'd say that the folder's actually been deleted, but Windows still shows it for some reason...
then why does it still show error when i try to download it, is it because its going to D drive?
How do you know it's trying to install to the D: drive?
thats what i have it set to on chrome, thats default download location for me
should i try to download from edge?
The WeMod installer will always attempt to install to the C:\Users\%username%\AppData Roaming and Local folders. This can't change
oh okay
As you've deleted the folders, if installing it again from there won't work, try adding the WeMod installer as well as the locations WeMod gets installed to as an exception to your antivirus application
If you’re experiencing issues with WeMod, your antivirus software might be interfering. To resolve this, try whitelisting or adding exceptions for the following folders:
- C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\WeMod
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\WeMod
wdym
Which antivirus do you have? If you think you have none, you likely have Microsoft Defender.
Alright. It's not recommended to turn it off
Rather, you can add exclusions to it
how do i do that
For Windows 11 - https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security-811816c0-4dfd-af4a-47e4-c301afe13b26#ID0EBF=Windows_11
If you're on Windows 10, just click the Windows 10 option on that page
Find out how to stop Windows Security from alerting you about or blocking a trusted file, file type, or process, by adding it to the exclusions list.
Add these two folders
If you’re experiencing issues with WeMod, your antivirus software might be interfering. To resolve this, try whitelisting or adding exceptions for the following folders:
- C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\WeMod
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\WeMod
As well as the WeMod installer file that was downloaded to your D: drive
If you can't add those two folders manually, just add the installer file first
Okay. Re-download the installer then, and then before running it, add it as an exception to your antivirus
folder or file? when i chose folder it doesnt pop up
File
Yep, give it a try
Can you open the setup log, save it somewhere, and then send it here?
Hmm. It's only showing the Discord setup log...
Could you try deleting the SquirrelSetup.log file from C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\SquirrelTemp and try installing again? Hopefully, it should create a new SquirrelSetup.log file and provide more information
Okay, I've just looked up something. Apparently, when some apps don't delete their install files, it can cause issues, especially with the Squirrel installer.
Try deleting the entire SquirrelTemp folder, restart your PC, and try running the installer again

Hey @gray musk ! Sorry for the delayed response on this one. If you're still having issues installing WeMod, can you try moving the installer to the C: drive and see if that helps at all? I don't think it will make a difference, but you never know
Yk ill have to try that, bc it worked before i switched my downloads to D: drive
it worked
