Hey there, apologies for the inconvenience. Have you tried the method below to see if this made a difference?

Try to initiate the Run dialog on your PC by using the keyboard shortcut WIN + R.

  • You should see a window will appear.
  • In this window, enter appdata and click the OK button.
  • Then verify the presence of a folder labeled "Squirreltemp" within the "appdata > local" directory.
  • If you do locate a folder named "Squirreltemp," kindly proceed to delete it.
  • Ensure that you only remove the "Squirreltemp" folder and avoid deleting any other files or directories.
Make sure to restart your PC
    Proceed to reinstall WeMod.

yea thats the last method i just tried basically i run the app it shows in task manager for a split second and then disappears again

slim pike
winged atlas
#

ill give it another go

slim pike
#

when you come back downlaod the installer from this link

winged atlas
#

the setup has now done a simular thing opened and closed but looked like it installed as the folders and app are there in the start menu still same issue tho

slim pike
#

whitelist the specific files mentioned below:

  • Update.exe, located in C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Local\WeMod
  • WeMod.exe, located in C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Local\WeMod
  • WeModAuxiliaryService.exe, located in C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Local\WeMod\app-VERSION_NUMBER\resources\app.asar.unpacked\static\unpacked\auxiliary
winged atlas
#

have already done that

slim pike
#

can you show me the exceptions list

winged atlas
slim pike
#

Alright and are the two folder locations below it?

winged atlas
#

like those folder exclusions as well

slim pike
#

yes

winged atlas
#

the wemod folder is yes

slim pike
#

When you first installed the app was anything coming up flagged with your av?

winged atlas
#

nope i have used wemod for a few years without issues up till an update which i used to choose to do later untill a week or 2 ago i let it update and then the issues arose

#

i tryed changing resolutions and going to a single monitor as i run 4 with 2 graphics cards but nothing changed

slim pike
#

Does anything even appear on screen or does it just show the task starting then closing?

winged atlas
#

nothing on screen i have to have task manager open on details to see the task open and close

slim pike
#

is your windows 11 version cracked?

winged atlas
#

no official windows 11 pro

slim pike
#

Normally when the task is killed off its an AV issue, Have you checked event viewer for anything around the timeframe?

winged atlas
#

ill have a look

#

where abouts would i want to be looking under event viewer

slim pike
#

All else fails try repairing/restoring windows if its on a separate ssd. I would just skim through it all and see if anything is being flagged around the same time you are opening it.

winged atlas
#

what prerequisites does wemod require and the setup in order to run correctly id prefer to be as thorough as possible before going to that extent over one application

winged atlas

slim pike

@pastel heart Please do not hijack other peoples support requests. You will need to wait for a support member to respond to yours

winged atlas
#

allgood lol

slim pike
#

I'm going to tag my manager @steel parrot to see if he has any input if he is around.

#

Generally these steps we have taken should of resolved this issue, I have no idea what is killing off the program.

winged atlas
#

allgood im thinking it must be something wemod requires like .net or something like that that could need reinstalling or something the only other thing is the latest might not like me having 2 different gpus or something its strange because nothing changed except updating wemod for it to stop working basically it worked perfectly well before i let it update

slim pike
#

You could try to reinstall it

#

it does require the latest version i believe.

winged atlas
#

the only other thing i could try is copying over the the wemod appdata and squirrel folders which i believe are working on my gaming laptop and see if that works if all else fails but ill have to do that tomorrow

slim pike
#

We will figure this out, I'll reach out to my team members and ask for some more input.

winged atlas
#

what was the scans i should do to check the broken files were you refering to the sfc scannow cmd

slim pike
#

yeah

#

@drifting hatch If you have any input as well it would be greatly appreciated thank you.

winged atlas
#

tryed both and another restart sfc found currupt files and did a repair but still no progress unfortunately

drifting hatch
# winged atlas tryed both and another restart sfc found currupt files and did a repair but stil...

Thanks @slim pike Not sure if you've tried this already, but you might want to give it a shot:

  1. Launch task manager to determine if WeMod app is running
  2. If you haven’t already, expand the task manager window by clicking More Details
  3. Scroll down to the heading labelled Background Processes
  4. Search for all instances of WeMod under this Background Procecesses header. Right-click them and choose End Task
  5. When WeMod is no longer shown, close task manager and re-launch WeMod again.
winged atlas
#

yea the problem is that it basically wont show up at all unless i click on the exe hold enter on it to open it a bunch its basically closing as soon as its opened without any visuals the only way i know its doing it is watching task manager in that exact section

no vpn have tryed turning off windows defender and giving it a go same thing

steel parrot
#

@winged atlas What antivirus are you using? We've only had one other report of this and it was caused by their antivirus

winged atlas
#

windows defender

steel parrot
#

hmm ok, nothing else?

winged atlas
#

nope

steel parrot
#

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\WeMod if you go there is 9.0.3 the only version you have installed?

winged atlas
#

yep

steel parrot
#

Ok. Let me check with the team and see if they have any suggestions

winged atlas
#

anything other then a windows reinstall sounds good lol

steel parrot
#

Few more questions

Is it a black screen or does the window completely close?
Does the Windows crash reporter pop up?
Do processes still exist in task manager?
Does it happen after or during the loading screen?

winged atlas
#

no window pops up process comes up in detailed section in task manager then disappears nearly instantly

#

doesnt visually open other then that

steel parrot
#

So you never actually see WeMod?

winged atlas
#

no only for a split second in task manager

#

no crash reporter

steel parrot
#

ok

#

thanks

slim pike
#

@winged atlas did you ever end up trying to zip those folders from your laptop to your desktop?

winged atlas
#

not yet havent had a lot of time to do it

slim pike
#

Put it on your bucket list and give us a tag when you tried

winged atlas
#

tryed doing that with no luck either it works fine on my laptop but even after i copyed the files over same deal

winged atlas
#

@slim pike @steel parrot

slim pike
#

I'm honestly out of ideas downzy

steel parrot
#

Unfortunately the engineering team doesn't have a solution right now. You can try this which is the 9.1.0 beta build.

slim pike
#

@tranquil forum Please stop hijacking posts

#

please create your own

winged atlas
#

tryed that too but had the same issue im about out of ideas

steel parrot
#

Hmm ok. Someone on the forums is still saying it is a windows defender issue

winged atlas
#

is there anything else to change in windows defender
