Switching game from one platform to other became more complicated. It may be too much of a hassle and confuse others.

Hi! I'm the designer who worked on this so I can share some context. We consciously chose to simplify the core game mods page over the current 1-click launcher switching. We did a bunch of research about our existing users and interviews with new potential users and discovered that the overwhelming majority of users never use these switchers (because most people have 1 launcher per game), and beyond having to add their game exe when WeMod has somehow not detected them – they never interact with this "setting" at all. The current way was also found to be (surprisingly!) confusing for non-tech-savvy users and people who aren't very used to modding.

So to counteract these issues, and to free up space on the game page so we can add more tools and features that people do love to use more often - we moved this setting (and all other future mod related settings) into this dropdown. It may be more steps, but our hope is that it is more obvious about what it actually is for.

i do think its not too bad however

#

i imagine a lot of people will come ask for it

sick cypress

but I wouldn't call it complaining. I'd call it feedback 🫡

confusion, i mean

#

the devs etc may have a hard time with it

#

id probs change mod settings to source setting to make it more obvious

#

if people hover about it they will instinctively see it

The tooltip text you mean? Fair point, we can have a look at that.

though the play button has the same choices too its not too bad

people can be quite slow

#

since theres two ways to do it i dont think it needs more

I mean, i mainly use switch cause i often go into game files, breaking game connection with steam or other platforms for sake of moding or kghm pirating kghm.
There for tablet designed for gog or epic more likely to work often times with broken games or unstable builds. For example i managed to make tablet of cheats for barony run on the barony (beta) from epic games, and not steam as it requesting initially.
So it's fair other people don't need it.

thats a rather delicate situation though

# sick cypress ah! Hmm, I see. That is a little trickier as we don't support that use case (and...

I would want to bring the issue up again. I've recently bought mass effect legendary edition, which is basically 3 games put together and problem is...

For mass effect legendary edition in WeMod, cheats automatically shows only for mass effect 1 legendary edition, so if you would start playing mass effect 2, cheats don't work, because they're locked to mass effect 1. So you press play, it tries to search game and fails.

It's not mentioned anywhere you need to manually switch it over so it works.
As we know, people are dumb, and not everybody can figure out you need to open this menu in order to swich cheats for Mass effect 2\3 so it actually can find the game and run it.

There for, i suggest adding info about this in "read before playing" or switching the ui so it's more easy to understand for games like mass effect legendary edition.
