Well, yea I agree that it is not a good thing.. in Germany we have Vodafone. And I hate them so much, but if they disappeared it would all become even shittier.

Telecom has the monopoly in my area.. and all the other providers have to rent their cables. And that makes telecom the only company that is able to upgrade the cables. But since they are strong on the other side of the river, they jsut don't care to upgrade.

And that is the downside of having one large company and several small ones

If the others disappeared they would just raise the cost since nobody else is cheaper

(Which being in the middle of the mountains in the south, is pretty much weekly cause of all the storms)

I honestly have no fuckin clue where they pulled that number from cause it's sure as hell not accurate for what it should be costing us, but because they are our only option in the area, we literally can't argue it. Part of it is they charge us for U-verse aswell, even though U-verse isn't available here and they don't even have a fiber line ran, but the last few times we've called to discuss it, we've been put on hold for literally hours and given the bullshit run around, just to be told there's nothing they can do to lower the bill.
