It may be a specific issue on your end. Haven't seen others state this specific issue in the new update. But it would be helpful in your case if you follow the instructions below 👇
Please enable 'show touches/taps' option in developers option of your device settings, you can search how to do so up on google.
If it shows touches and still not registered by game, then record your screen with touches enabled and report it to the developers through the in-game customer support with your device information.
Whenever you face this issue, try going to recent apps menu and back to game, it most of the time fixes the issue. Clean your screen and make sure there is nothing else than your hands interacting with the touch screen
