not your fault but this is the overarching issue of the entire studio. an inability to communicate specifics, let alone general explanations. whoever is in charge needs to seriously reevaluate how the entire studio approaches us as a community. totally new system because the current policy of total lack of communication is abhorrent. "we are unable to comment at this time" or "we have nothing to say" is indicative of this larger issue.

No more being stereotypical game devs that say nothing and do nothing. Evolve, improve, change everything about how you currently interact with us, or let us do it for you (you know we would). Do better.

I shouldn't have to preface this message with "not targeting you Moonmoon" but unfortunately you're one of the only people on the team that acknowledges us so I'll begrudgingly direct this message at you specifically. Everyone of us aren't just chiv2 fans. Some of us have been here since AOC. We want the game to succeed cause we see it's potential. Some of you try harder then most to be in this community and sadly you wear the badge of TB so studio issues still reflect.
It's been 1.5 years. We been rocking through all these delays and false hopes even though we knew the day chiv2 was announced this is to be expected from the history of the studio.

I hear rumors that chiv2 never will get workshop. Frankly chiv1 getting workshop support could of saved it but TBS waited way to late to enable it.

Ziggy was banned temporarily from chiv for leaking screen shots of horses.
I found this insulting honestly because ziggy got people excited for the first time in awhile. That leak created good things for players to look forward too. And they fucking banned him for it cause of a NDA
And I get it. But leaks and punishing your player base not to mention one of your best streamers (one of the only streamers who didn't just leave the game after they got the paycheck).
They really need to go into rapid fire with things. Dave and others are already doing their part. We just need better tools to work with. Better communication.. no more punishing or ignoring the small group that cares

Keeping the thread open can allow others to share their discourse still on the topic. As long as no one is hurting each other, being excessively offensive, or breaking Discord rules, no issues from us in letting discussion continue.

yeah i actually believe i addressed that somewhere in the 3000 comments in this thread. Basically in chiv1 TB lost their comp scene and then player base took a big hit. when consoles started getting pushed they had so many issues with it.

its a shame, all of this honestly, TB and other players may not care about the chiv community, hell i know many chiv1 players who were waiting for steam release and now its here they are basically seeing what we all feared, and thats torn banner being arrogant. they act like they know what they are doing despite community constant pleas that we have because of the experience from TB over the last decade. Its bitter sweet, we dont want it to end but we arent being given the tools to help. We dont want to say"i told you so" but literally all they do is prove it. the comp scene, and clan servers, plus workshop mods helped keep chiv1 alive as long as they could. Hell it was those workshop mods that you see apart of chiv2. Black knight mod anyone? i would like to think that even Mirage was inspired by the wizard mod chiv1 had.
fact is Age of chivalry inspired chiv1 and was enabled by crowd funding. Everything that came out of chiv1 workshops inspired mirage and chiv2. Yet they dont seem to want to acknowledge the community for being inpiration, instead we are ignored, and dismissed constantly. Its almost like the creative team at TB is too stubborn to admit in any form that they need help. I played age of chivalry once and loved it, especially the siege equipment as it actually was interesting and difficult to use. Chivalry 1 was awesome, I only played it on console though so I never got to experience the true “peak” of it nor the mods. I love chivalry 2, but I hate where it’s going or shall I say inability to go anywhere? It honestly seems like they don’t know what to do with content on hand, and content being considered.

If they take even one person off other bug solutions, this game will never get fixed. TB has already narrowed its consumer awareness to people on discord. The Reddit Sub is very rarely interacted with. Focusing again on a small subset will force console players to leave if the major problems arent dealt with first.

Mods already provide support to groups that meet a certain threshold. There doesn't need to be private servers, there needs to be more duel server mods.

This is sadly a problem on the moderation side of it too from a couple aspects.

1. If an event is happening that has console players participating, the event will (currently) need to be done in a non-passworded server which means random players will be able to join. If a PC player joins we can communicate in chat that an event is going on and if spectators are allowed where they should be etc. Console players will not be able to receive these messages and so likely (through no fault of their own) will interrupt the event.

2. If a console player joins a duel server through the server browser without reading the server name (fair enough, it's exciting to join your first game so maybe you just join the one with the lowest ping/highest players) they won't know why they're being votekicked when they're RDMing and cannot be told.

In both these instances when a moderator is in the server they can issue a kick which does display a message reason to the console player that they can read so it helps. The first issue is alleviated once console players can join passworded servers as intended. I'd also like to eventually see a MOTD popup when you join a server (as we had in CMW) that can inform people of expected duel rule conduct.

This would also be helpful when community servers are eventually added since then people can add their own rules, discord info for the community etc.

there's a lot to these situations. for the most part, an event will be provided a passworded server. unfortunately, there's a bug that prevents console users from joining servers that use passwords

so to allow console players to play they sometimes use servers that are open

At the current rate there's probably between 10-15 private / competitive events that are run every week in NA alone, and it's incredibly annoying when a bunch of Xbox players without chat join and start standing in the middle of it

We have no way to communicate with those players besides emotes, which doesn't work most of the time. So we votekick them

The event / enjoyment of the 20 players who all coordinated to be there > the random console player getting mad because they didn't get to stand in the middle of what is clearly an organized event

When I got booted, I got confused and was scratching my saying " why was I removed from a server ". Competitive Chiv 2 is likely dead until private servers come out. It's become increasingly tougher to run organized matches and people seem to be ready to give up on it until we have an easier method for running them.

Battlebit had like 3 developers, chivalry had around probably 50 increasing yearly rapidly to nearly 90 members before release and now today 100+, both games have had nearly the same time spent on them. Battlebit released far recently rather then release early

Mordhau did the same actually, released in 2019 developed only in 2017, they released within only 2 yrs of development

Chivalry focused more on combat while mordhau focused more on cosmetics, utilities, and many small changes to make their game enjoyable.

also very unsure on what you mean by that "commercially", many games have had a longer period of over 5 years.

in all honestly, it sometimes doesn't matter at all if its released shorter or longer it just depends on the content at the end. some games have been developed within just months some many years, both can be very great. just as terraria was only 8 months, minecraft 2 years, skyrim 10+ years, warband was 8 years. some games dont even release properly and are disliked until they change a bit and start adding more content in decent volumes

sea of thieves being an example they had no actual proper goal sat early on and when they did they pulled through pretty well

If TB don't want to let us run their game on privater servers, at least they could rent us decent ones.
Most of the times they are suffocating under the pressure and causes a ton of glitches, lags and rollbacks

Could possibly be because of its already “smaller” player count. Maybe they fear if they create private servers it’ll empty out most of their original servers and cause a loss of players due to dead servers. Just a thought. I feel as if private servers would only increase the player count due to players getting to do what they want on a video game they enjoy.

Well this is because TB doesn't really care about its game and they want all the control when it comes to hosting "events" if you can even call them that. Any devs that won't include private servers due to them negatively affecting official server population, are morons imo. Its also been 2+ years, they will most likely never have them implemented. This thread being open is actually hilarious to me, because you know the devs don't care. If they did they would have done something about this already or made some for of statement.
