I think there should be an additional checkpoint for when you leave the hospital/regain contact with command. The hospital section is great, but it's pretty slow and it's frustrating to have to go back and redo it every time you die during the finale. I could just be a bit biased because I'm insane and like doing these things solo, though.

The hotfix should be adding a checkpoint if I remember correctly
I don't know... I didn't see the checkpoint either...
There is one checkpoint currently, with another potentially on the way
There will be a new checkpoint but it won't be there. Due to technical limitations we cannot place one further forward from where the last one currently is. This might change in the future but is a big undertaking to support this.
If there's technical issues, that's a shame. I think the ideal sets of checkpoints for that campaign are just before the first 610 encounter, research center, and post-hospital.
😭 dang i found this thread after dying at the very end of the hospital a second time; losing 45+ minutes of careful gameplay in the hospital at the end twice now really really hurts. it's punishing enough having to replay the entire hospital, and repeating the research center and hospital is just too much. i don't often use grenades in this game, tried one, it bounced off a 610 enemy and then killed me. the combat encounters can feel overwhelming to a single player with a single life, but also then trying to control the combat that killed me last time with a grenade killed me and cost me another hour of stressful navigation through the hospital. is one-life the only way Ghosts of the South Gate will work? I feel like this should be a challenge run, not the only way to do it. I love the gunplay and the interpretation of the setting this game puts forward, but as I've said previously, it feels like I'm getting the shit kicked out of me for trying to explore it. streaming the game to my friends turned them off of it completely, so it's safe to say getting a team to solve this is out of the question.
#👥looking_for_group does help with finding a private group to do runs through the campaign. Grenades are the roullete of this game, especially if FF is on. The first run through is indeed the trickiest but a few tips i will give, don't spend time killing (making sure they;re dead) 610's. Two methods are the kill them and run past as they have about 15-20s worth of wait time on respawn. Or, before starting the map engagement, search around and swap out your knifes for flares. Flaring a 610 will prevent revive.
ah, so that's what they do. wondered why there were so many yet they didn't draw aggro.
yeah nah i've been full killing everything mostly out of terror lmao, i don't know the maps and objectives well enough to get around quickly and especially on one life having to run the gambit of taking hits half a dozen times each in mission 1 taught me to just cool out and play slower
and i like the excuse to use my guns in areas where there's lots of ammo, i love this game's guns and the feel of the canted sight-swapping
i'll definitely try the flares out though, and see if i can turn off self-damage by turning off friendly fire on the grenades
Depending on your weapon. AK, Galil, MK18 use 5-6 shots per enemy. 3 mags per golem if your solo. Shotguns/revolver should be avoided until you've learned the spawn points/enemy count so you can match your ammo/reload timing. Flares are underappreciated but they do cost a few seconds of vulnerability.
