I’m having this extremely odd and specific bug where the deflicker filter turns off in the Wii menu, but only specifically when any special (yellow/orange or otherwise) mail is rendered/comes into view when viewing mail (not when the message board loads in general, only when viewing mail that isn't a playtime log).
I made a forum post about this (https://forum.wiilink.ca/t/bug-support-deflicker-filter-turns-off-the-moment-any-non-playtime-mail-is-loaded-rendered/1776) but since then I've tracked the cause of the issue down to receiving Wii Speak mail specifically ('This message was created by your Wii friend using the Wii Speak Channel.') but the filter turns off when viewing ANY special mail from that point on, not just viewing Wii Speak mail. Receiving one causes something to happen where it being present on the message board at all (even after deleting it!!!) causes all mail to turn off the deflicker filter when rendered at all.
It stays off for that session and turns back on when the wii menu is reloaded and when a channel/game is loaded.
This results in a breif window where the system menu boots and everything is fine but the deflicker filter turns off the moment the message board messages load if you received any special mail that day (because it gets immediately rendered behind the channels).
To clarify, I am NOT interested in debating wether or not deflicker looks better and I will NOT discuss it. I am just looking for a solution to this issue - though for context, I want the deflicker filter ON while in the Wii menu. It turning off from Wii Speak mail specifically does not seem intentional at all.
This bug doesn’t happen at all if the Wii is booted into Recovery Mode (which disables the message board). It also does not happen if it’s in an interlaced video mode (576i or 480i), even when checking the mail. I verified this by using priiloader’s system menu hacks.
