#What cIOS do I use to load games off of my HDD that's connected to port 1?

As title says, 251 lets Wii Flow show the drive but upon loading the games, I get booted to Wii Menu. Port 1 is a must, either the port is breaking for me or I've bought a shitty adapter and the HDD only spins up when connected to port 1.

iirc you need hermes for port 1

#

i've not heard of a better solution

#

@split gazelle do you know?

split gazelle
#

i think d2x v10 beta53 has support for port 1

#

v10 beta53 alt

split gazelle
#

try using this

atomic orbit
#

let's see

#

alright I'm downloading d2x-v10-beta53-alt to slot 249

#

I'll let you know if it works

#

It still boots me to Wii main menu

#

any ideas?

#

@split gazelle @hard anvil

golden temple
#

And what game

atomic orbit
#

Mario Kart Wii

#

and

golden temple
#

Is WiiFlow loading at all

atomic orbit
#

yup, it's loading

#

but it's booting me to main menu when I start the game

golden temple
#

try base 57 on 250 then set game to 250

#

this cIOS has less compatibility in some way I forget if it is with drives or games

atomic orbit
#

it's stuck on loading when using this cIOS

golden temple
#

rip

#

But for some reason loading it anyway else it boots to home menu so maybe that will work

golden temple
atomic orbit
#

@golden temple and on USB Loader GX it just boots me to main menu

#

XD

#

fucking hell why is this so complicated?

#

why can't it just load games XD

atomic orbit
#

yup

#

just use Wii Backup Manager and install games that way

#

I’m on Mac

atomic orbit
#

I spend more times fixing my Wii than playing on it...

#

first the WiFi issues now the hard drive

golden temple
#

this sounds like the usb port is fucked up

#

If u can’t use port0

atomic orbit
#

or the adapter

#

it's the cheap one

atomic orbit
#

I needed to use a pendrive because I figured out playing party games with my friends will be fun

#

(and we finished Mario Party 9 yesterday)

#

but getting the hard drive to spin up took me like 15 minutes

golden temple
#

I’m not sure why the hdd would only spin up on one port but not the other

#

The adapter doesn’t care what port it is in

atomic orbit
#

good question

#

yup

#

exactly my thoughts

#

I had a sata adapter that worked like a charm

#

but I gave it away

#

and bought a cheap adapter from AliExpress

#

works like a charm on PC

golden temple
#

rip

atomic orbit
#

I had that issue one day where the plug was fucked

#

and didn't work on all ports even on my PC

#

it worked on USB 3.0 ports but refused to work on USB 2.0 ports

#

USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0

#

so that's interresting

#

now I use that adapter for my boot drive for Raspberry Pi 4

#

and it supports USB 3.0 speeds and it's fine

#

been using it for the past 2 years

#

it's 7PM

#

fuck it

#

I'm going to the computer store

#

and I'm gonna find a new adapter

#

if it won't work or help, I'll just return it

#

no strings attached

#

brb I guess?

golden temple
#

good luck

atomic orbit
#

thx XD

#

I need to pull out my PS3 and play it

#

I have a 1TB drive in it

#

filled with games

#

but no time or will to play them all

#

at this point I've spent more money on Wii accessories than on the console itself

golden temple
#

Like SD, hdd, Ethernet adapter, hdmi adapter, wiimotes, Nunchuk, classic controllers etc

atomic orbit
#

yeeah

#

while I'm going I'm also gonna refund the ethernet adapter that they... sent me with the wrong chipset

#

that doesn't work on Wii

#

(thanks for wasting my time)

atomic orbit
#

update:

#

they didn't have it

#

XD

#

I ordered the adapter, should arrive on friday

#

I'll update you guys then

atomic orbit
#

Update:

#

I got the adapter, it's a 2 port one so I can get more power so the drive spins up correctly and it works!

#

I also had to install the latest cIOS

#

And now it's working off of port 0

#

Thanks!

#

Another issue...

#

WiFi still acts up

#

And I can't reliably find the correct ethernet adapter

split gazelle
#

just make sure it says so on the listing

#

wii/wii u compatible

atomic orbit
#

Yeah I found a Ugreen one

#

Only on Amazon but fuck it

#

At least it's Amazon Poland

#

It's too much for such an old chip

#

But fuck it...

#

53zł

#

$13

#

I sold my old one for like 15zł back in the days

#

Why didn't I keep it lmao

split gazelle
#

oof

atomic orbit
#

I returned the ethernet adapter I bought from AliExpress, for Wii it needs to have the ASIX AX88772 chip. They sent me one with ASIX AX88772B. I returned it and bought the ugreen one, it arrives on tuesday, hopefully works and I can finally have working internet on my Wii.

#

I literally spent more time troubleshooting WiFi on my Wii than using it

#

Because let's be real, these days internet on Wii is only used for convenience in homebrew or playing few games online

#

mainly Mario Kart Wii because no one plays other games

atomic orbit
#

I never could find people to play on it

#

and even if I could, it was from another side of the world

#

fighting game with 300ms ping isn't good

#

it's fine for Mario Kart Wii

#

since it doesn't really matter that much and it has movement prediction in case you lose connection for a few seconds

#

but for SSB it's really bad

split gazelle
#

interesting

atomic orbit
#

I BOUGHT THE LAST ONE

#

IT'S NOW UNAVAILABLE ON AMAZON

#

lucky me

atomic orbit
split gazelle
atomic orbit
#

even if it's different revisions of the same chipset

#

Wii looks for a specific device id

#

if it's different it's just gonna throw an error and not even try to use it
