#Nintendont recognizes USB drive, but Not64/WiiFlow/VBAGX/YAWMM won't!

I followed the wii.guide and got GameCube games up and running on my Wii with Nintendont. That's great.

Now when launching other Homebrew apps, they don't seem to recognize or interact with the same USB drive.

WiiFlow gives me:
-- File Explorer - Path = usb1:/ and it shows just "..."

Not64 gives me:
-- Error opening directory "fat:/not64/roms"

  • even though I've got a folder with that name full of roms on the drive.

YAWMM gives me:
-- ERROR! (ret = -1) when attempting to mount USB device.

VBA GX gives me:
-- USB drive not found!

I can exit any of these apps, launch Nintendont and proceed as normal with all my games listed.

So I'm wondering if I've missed a step somewhere - or why the drive I'm using interacts fine with Nintendont but not with any of the others!

Thanks for your help.

Are the emulators finicky enough that a totally viable configuration on one emulator won’t work for the other? I also feel very confident that I have labelled and organized the files appropriately

What did you use to format the HDD by the way

Disk utility on Mac OS

Thanks! I’ll give that a try.

Should I stick with the same HDD since I got it working with one emulator already? Or better to buy a brand new one just for this purpose? Is there a list of recommended HDD out there?

seeing some recommendations for a partitioned drive that stores gamecube games on FAT32 and Wii on NTFS... any thoughts?

ok. i'll try reformatting the drive with a different program other than disk utility (ideally something that runs on a mac) and see if that does the trick!
