my friend has had his wii hacked for a few months now, recently his wii menu has started to produce a crunchy/distorted sound only on the menu, wii audio settings are correct, i had him try cleaning the video out pins but no dice. he tried using the wii hd retrovision cables on his gamecube (he has a gchd that takes wii component cables) and the audio is good, along with his wii u. had him check the priiloader settings just incase but nothing pointed to anything audio related minus disabling system menu sounds which he obviously doesn't want to do, any suggestions?

He's using HD cables?
HD cables are most of the time pretty terrible
Most of the time it's wii2hdmi that's pretty 50/50
Yeah probably the cables
its not hd cables its a premium brand of component cable
they sell shielded cables for most consoles
Why would you use anything other than the original
Original cables work just fine
because they're better cables for gamecube/wii
all his consoles go through a 12 way component switcher so interference is common if any of the cables aren't shielded
games are fine
just the menu, wii channels/games seem completely fine
Hm
Has he tried switching from a different switch?
id assume he's tried but ill double check
@misty nymph did he also change his audio settings (mono or the other option)
I was just about to say that, mono and surronds sounds are the 2 other after stereo. Stereo is the default
