are you sure you got your xml correct
idk
upload it
actually hold on, did you manually edit it? or
i didn't touch it it's directly from hbb
Except if cios modified it or sth
you said you were going to do the v11 upgrade?
yessir
well, you are going to need the xml from https://github.com/wiidev/d2x-cios/releases/tag/d2x-v11-beta1 anyways
oh thanks
hi again, cuz I'm dumb how do I do the v11 upgrade?
I mean, what cios base and revision should I choose for each slot
ik
but it's still on v10
But anyways it was really straight forward, did it myself
may i know why you wanna upgrade?
on github a rc24 compatibility issue is mentioned that has been fixed in the new release, but i would if youre not affected by this issue and v11 doesnt add a feature you need, stay with v10
if u use ulgx u pretty much need v11 and generally it's good to keep up to date
i use ulgx and all is fine so far, beside the hack that does randon reads on my hdd every few seconds to precent the head getted parked.. which still doesnt happen too often
wait what
newer isnt always better, even v10 is called beta as well, way more people use it than v11, and its more tested
ulgx parks the drive head?
the hdd firmware does that, some users had issues with the hdd parking and kinda going idle while they play, so there is a hack in the code that does random reads every few secons to precent that hdd behaviour
oh ok
but my hdd still does park a lot, a seagate i have does it like 700 times in 120min sitting idle in ulgx
devs wouldn't upload it if it caused problems
you can look up the s.m.a.r.t. values of youre drive, the value is called "load cycle count"
newer drives park the head automaticly when they think the drive is idle
I use a flash drive so I guess it's like stopping the spinning motor on a DVD drive after inactivity
and if it does end up being problematic I can always just downgrade
well, you can use it for sure, its up to you, i dont say its bad in any way, i just mean youre more likely to be a beta tester than with something that is already outthere a while
so, i guess time to upgrade for me would be if its officially recommended in the wii.guide
I guess that counts too
if you got issues, its easier to find the reason the more common your setup is, and v10 is used by most people, thats just i see it
you can still install v11 in parallel to v10 of course, just choose different slots
I don't think I'll go that way
i think wii.guide uses 249-251, can use slots above and just set ulgx to another slot
you can use syscheck to see which slots are used
It's fine to just use v11-beta1
You can ping me if you're having issues installing it
Am I okay to close this thread?
Sure go ahead
