I let a sibling of mine borrow my wii and when I got it back years later it was modded, has homebrew, I got a couple games on it and it was working well. My sibling doesn't remember specifically what they did or how it works so I wasn't sure what I could and couldn't do. Couple days ago I was messing around and saw I could copy the disk that was in the wii (New Super Mario Bros. Wii) and have it downloaded, well I thought it would be a good idea so I did it.

When the process started it showed that it was 100% done, 0 seconds left and it kind of froze. When It unfroze it went to 0% and I left it for 5-10 minutes and when I came back it had not moved at all, still said 0% done, 0 seconds left.

I tried to cancel, nothing happened, tried home button, nothing, tried B button, nothing, I tried several times to cancel and back out but it wouldn't budge so I turned the wii off. When it came back on none of the games I had downloaded on the usb were there, nothing was there, I turned the Wii off and put the USB in my pc to find that the I couldn't access usb without formatting. I tried to recover it or access the usb without formatting but nothing was working. Ejected the USB, put it back in the Wii, nothing, went back and formatted the usb.

It was after it all happened that I realized I never backed up the contents of the usb, the files, or anything. Dumb, I know. And now I have no idea how to go about getting it to work again. Please help

nothing complicated to get back working again then

#

hardest part literally is to get the games again

#

just don't risk it again trying to dump the disc

The most reliable place for Wii and GameCube games is MarioCube (just Google it).
Hit the Get Wii, Wii U, GC, and DS games button.
Join the Google group
Close the groups.google.com page
Go to https://drive.google.com
Use the search bar to find whatever game you want.

When downloading/searching for Wii retail disc games from MarioCube, their file type can be in .wbfs, .rvz, or nkit.gcz. If you plan on using the game on a physical Wii, you should stick to downloading games in .wbfs.

You may notice games that use Nintendo WFC have a Wiimmfi patched version. This is to restore online services. Feel free to download that version.

If they are .zip file type, do not download them. Those are for a different console.

The easiest way to install a .wbfs to a FAT32 formatted SD or USB drive is using Wii Backup Manager. It can transfer the game, split the file if it is larger than 4gb, and create the necessary folder structure all in just a couple button presses.
You can find a guide to downloading and using Wii backup Manager here:
https://wii.guide/wiibackupmanager

There is also a supplemental video guide in case you are having trouble:

I've still got the games downloaded on my PC, they're .wbfs and Tried to put them back on the USB drive, went to homebrew channel, went to the app that let me open the games, but they won't appear

My fear is that there were some homebrew files on the usb that maybe made it all work? I'm not sure

Most likely you put them wrong on the USB

#

they must have a specific file format

#

wbfs/name of the game [game id goes here]/game id.wbfs

#

each game has its own folder inside the wbfs folder

How would I go about knowing the game id? And if I could, how could I redirect the wii to look in the USB instead of the SD card?

Okay so I got the Wii running again, I primarily was using Wiiflow WFL to play the games, wii sports, wii sports resort, mario sports mix yadda yadda, I was on USB Loader GX when I tried to copy/dump the disk onto the wii

#

I think those might be outdated, I'm not sure, and at this point I think I want to try and remod it from the ground up, though I'm not sure how to go about that or where to start

Or if I should even do that 😅

#

When I go into WiiFlow WFL, its says 'no games found in usb1:/wbfs'

#

even though I have a folder in the root of the usb titled wbfs, then a folder for each game, and the actual wbfs file within the respective game's folder

#

I tried to reload cache but that won't really help
