#Doubt about controller compatibility (Wii modding)

Hi, I'm just getting started with Wii modding and I have some basic questions that I hope you can answer for me.
Question 1: Do I need a normal Wii Remote to install Homebrew or other add-ons?
I read some users saying that using the Plus Controller in the installation causes errors.
Question 2: Can I use a Wii Pro Controller to play Gamecube/emulator games?
I would like to buy a second hand pro controller but I'm not sure about compatibility, even a Gamecube controller.

  1. only some really outdated apps won't work with wii remote plus remotes, it's fine
  2. for gamecube games you need to load them through Nintendont to be able to use a classic controller [pro]
    and for emulator games, sure why not
