Wii freezes on black screen after trying to go into the Homebrew Channel

I just installed BootMii and HBC using LetterBomb, and everything went well (after I screwed up the region code the first time). The Wii isn't bricked, and can still do all the usual Wii things normally. However, when trying to open the Homebrew Channel, it just crashes on a black screen. What would cause this, and how do I fix it?
