what version is the usbloader
Try deleting and downloading USB Loader again
uhh I reinstalled it on the usb, its doing the same thing
this is what the usb looks like
Please try to reinstall one more time using the latest version from here: https://github.com/wiidev/usbloadergx/releases/tag/v3.0-r1281
When you move the files over, make sure they're replacing the old ones.
same thing - just a blank white screen
anything I can supply/do to help with troubleshooting?
Strange, I would try to put those files from the GitHub release on a fresh SD card with nothing on it (Or USB Flash drive, but try an SD card first if you have one), making sure that it's formatted as FAT32. Let me know if that makes any difference and I can give you more instructions from there.
try the .wad
I don’t have an SD card - formatted the USB as fat32 and installed it again. What do you mean by the .wad? 😅 I’ve never tried something like this before so am unfamiliar with it all sorry 😓
Are you getting the same blank screen even after you formatted the USB? I don't actually know what this guy is talking about with the wad, but maybe he's referring to the forwarder wad? It's just a channel that loads from the home screen that does the same thing as going to the homebrew menu and opening usbloader gx, it won't fix your issue. And no worries, we all start somewhere! Unfortunately, a lot of wii homebrew tends to break quite easily, especially if you don't have things installed exactly the way it wants it.
Assuming the issue is still happening with the formatted USB, I'm thinking your problem is either a weird CIOS install (or you didn't install it at all) or the USB is having problems and is unsupported. If it is the CIOS, then I'm going to have you install the d2x v11 beta cios. Download the attached d2x zip, and extract it to your "apps" folder on your USB. Go to the homebrew menu and open d2x cios installer, press continue, and install d2x-v11-beta (I think its revision 65557 or something like that) on:
Slot 248 base 38 (Wii only)
Slot 249 base 56 (Wii /vWii)
Slot 250 base 57 (Wii /vWii)
Slot 251 base 58 (Wii /vWii)
Sorry if any of that is vague, I'm going off of memory for the most part. Please let me know if there's anything there you're unsure about.
(For anyone curious, the source of the attached files is here: https://github.com/wiidev/d2x-cios/releases)
just reinstalled it how you listed above, still the same white screen
how would I know if a USB is supported or is it just a dice roll? Will I need to buy one specifically for this? The one I was using was just a 32GB sandisk I had lying around
Any name brand ones like SanDisk will be supported and work completely fine. I honestly have no idea what else to tell you, this has me stumped. So weird...
If you're fine using another game loader you could try WiiFlow lite from here: https://github.com/Fledge68/WiiFlow_Lite/releases
The current cios setup you now have is compatible with it. Just curious, what wii are you using? Wii, Wii Family Edition, Wii Mini, vWii, etc?
hmm that seems to get stuck on loading too, must be something I've done wrong with the CIOS setup.. I did follow the steps you put above, also i'm using a Wii - just default OG one
At this point I'm just taking stabs in the dark, hopefully someone more experienced can chime in with the fix.
It looks like the wrong cluster size when formatting the drive can cause this problem sometimes? https://www.reddit.com/r/WiiHacks/comments/fmklxs/blank_screen_on_booting_usbloadergx_has_anyone/
And also bad drives: https://www.reddit.com/r/WiiHacks/comments/dp9p0d/usb_loader_gx_only_shows_an_empty_screen/
Your Cios install should be all good, so I can't imagine that being the issue.
Anyway to just verify the CIOs install is working just in case? I’ll look into those two links now thanks !
I believe that WiiModLite has an option to view your cios install, you could send a video/log of that.
The top option
just ask for a syscheck
To help troubleshoot your issue please run Syscheck and test all IOS on your Wii by following this guide:
https://wii.guide/syscheck
When it's done it will generate and display a syscheck.csv file.
If you have an SD, power down the Wii and insert the SD into a PC. Drag and drop the syscheck.csv file from the root of your SD into chat.
If you don't have an SD, you might get an error. Just continue until the report is displayed. You will need to upload the report and link the URL to chat or take photos of the entire report.
