#USB Loader GX not loading games after softmod update

@graceful elbow
Syscheck I did after installing a fresh NAND, and following wii.guide for the 3rd time (maybe 4th, i lost count)
What usbloader GX version are you using
latest
1281?
ive only tried one so far.. takes time to put em on the drive... its a 128gb sandisk formatted to fat32 with 65k block size
but any game i was trying yesterday wasnt working
Make sure your drive is MBR as well and try different games
oh. how do i check this?
doesn computer managemtn has this info?
i believe it is...
its Disk 3
Disc management
yeah its done, i believe it is MBR
It says gpt in that corner
but disk 3 doesnt have an asterix..
Disc 3 is your external hard drive?
Well there’s your problem don’t use a thumb drive
Wiis will kill thumb drives
They are not very compatible at all
and as i said, before i updated my soft mod, it had like 20+ games on it, working
instead of formatting to fat32, should i try ntfs?
or the old wbfs format?
and yes, not iso
Well
before i updated my soft mod thats what i was using...
along with WBFS Manager 🤮
hence why i wanted to update so bad...
i had tried fat32 with my old softmod and that never worked
i had to go through wbfs
best option is to buy a hard drive
or use wii flow which i think is easier on usb sticks
tried wii flow, it wont load either
ok lets says i dont care about updating now, i just want it to work... can i just flash my NAND from prior to my update and it would work again?
not a fresh one, the one that had the old softmod working...
will it bring back my mii, game data and channels?
tried other games, and they dont work either
fuck it im trying wbfs format... i hate wbfs manager 😦
DUDE
@graceful elbow no shot
i just formatted to wbfs and added my games using wbfs manager
it works
Well I mean if it works
So PLEASE, dont tell people to not use wbfs format, it may be old but sometimes, thats the only fix i guess
i had seen a video about it
We don’t tell people not to, we just say FAT32 is recommended
Don’t use video guides
No i dont want to
the wii.guide is much more detailed
it was just a video about how to fix usb loader not working, dude proposed to format back to wbfs instead of fat32
Both WBFS and NTFS are usable on usbloader but have issues
NTFS* 😽
np xD
i guess time to retransfer all my games
hopefully wii backup can do the transfer fine.. or else doing 1 by 1 titles on wbfs manager sucks xD
Wii backup manager should work
didnt work
only games transferred using WBFS Manager works...
dont know whats the diff.. one needs an iso to convert into a wbfs, the other straight up uses wbfs 😂
its annoying, not i gotta convert all my selected games in iso
then add them 1 by 1 on WBFS Manager, then transfer them xd
so it was working for the 2 games i tested earlier, now only those games show up
thats why its recomended to use FAT32
but i cant
and not a usb stick
prolly just coincedence
mhm...
so the christmas gift i did to my sibbling is basically a paper weight now
Cool, thx!
found an old revision of GX
ima give that a try
r1272
thats funny
now they show up
let me add more and test
Didnt work, imma just revert to my backup NAND when my stuff was working
dont do that
and why not
i flashed a fresh nand without issue
whats the point of doing backup if you cant go back to it?
fine do whatever you want at this point
you keep saying dont do that but dont actually answer my question
i asked if the NAND contained channels, mii and game data? and why would it be bad to use my old NAND when it was working fine before?
If you want i go through the risky process twice, flash a freshy again, then flash my backup?
Your syscheck looks good
it might look cleaner than if it had previous softmod, i did flash a fresh nand thinking that could help, then proceeded to follow wii.guide, to no avail, USB sticks wont load games it just black screen
i think my problem is the usb stick at this point..
people who had the same issue seem to have resolved it by using ext hdd, so i just bought one
ah yeah just use that flash drives are a pain on the wii
but thats my issue lol, it was working fine before i updated, tho it would only see WBFS format drives..
i had iOS236 patched and stuff. tutorial i had watched back then was 2012, to give you an idea lol
WBFS format is known to make flash drives work when they wouldn't as FAT32
aaaaaaaah
that would make sense
thx
my wii never liked fat32, but then again i never tried ext hdd
If the ext hdd fails using FAT32, should i try WBFS lol?
And should i update to v11? or is it too early?, i also see 2 diff cIOS guide?
no lol u really shouldn't need it
dont think so.. i did a friend wii couple days ago, but she had a 256gb usb stick as FAT32 and that worked fine
mine is the same brand and model but 128..
You can if you want.
i think id like to lol, might aswell get the latest..
would you recommend the 1st or 2nd cIOS guide?
The one that says For Wii
but 2nd one says for both vWii and Wii?
u can do that too
ok
i gotta not forget about ModMii stuff
ive seen it patch a couple stub last time i tried it
maybe it could help
I haven't tested if it works well with WiiFlow but it's probably fine
i actually prefer USB loader GX
if you want. It's also not that important unless u randomly decide to region change or downgrade Wii sysmenus
but it wasnt loading games for me, and got glitched, so i deleted the usb_load_gx folder and dl a fresh version, ill test that when the new hdd comes in
ooh thx! i like infos like that! instead of someone just telling me do this, do that...
^^
oh question.. i enabled a few more options than what the guide recommend in Priiloader, could that affect anything?
i have Block Disc Updates
Block Online Updates
Auto-Press A at Health Screen
Replace Health Screen with Backmenu
Move Disc Channel
Wiimmfi Patch v4
480p graphics fix in system menu
Remove NoCopy Save File Protection
Region Free EVERYTHING
all enabled
None of that should really cause any issues
ok
now im unsure about extracting the zip for v11 tho, the file arrangement is much diff, idk where do i extract it?
ofc
was mostly asking the other guy how he had done it, didnt wanna bother you too much.. but thx alot, your answers were rly helpful!
ill keep my thread up while my ext hdd arrives and see if it works, but thx again!
Omfg I can't believe it it works !!!!!!
I just loaded the biggest game I had from the ext HDD!! It took a few seconds but it loaded!!!
Yay congrats. Do GameCube games work?
Just wanted to double check you formatted hard drive to MBR FAT32
Yep using guiformat, 65k alloc size
