hello! i apologize if this is not the correct place to ask, but i tried to get support in another server and was ignored. i'm trying to install a modded game but it requires cIOS 222 or 224, and obviously i have neither of those installed. it was strongly recommended to install them through hermes, but when i tried, i got the error pictured below, probably because i don't have an internet connection on my wii currently. is there any way to get those cIOSes installed without an internet connection?
#unable to install cIOS through hermes—is there an alternative?

what game are you trying to play that you need to install anything through hermes?
a just dance 2023 mod for the wii
i followed all the other steps as outlined in here: https://sites.google.com/site/completesg/cios/hermes-cios?pli=1 so i'm pretty sure it's just my internet that's the problem. other people in the server said they tried to install the cIOSes through d2x but it didn't work for them, so i'm not sure what to do ;;
@zinc trench
To install Hermes CIOS, I recommend using ModMii's Syscheck updater.
This requires an SD.
Please run Syscheck and test all IOS on your Wii by following this guide:
https://wii.guide/syscheck
When it's done it will generate and display a syscheck.csv file.
Power down the Wii and insert the SD into a PC.
Download and install ModMii
https://modmii.github.io/
Launch Modmii Classic (not ModMii Skin)
In the main menu, select O = Options
In options, select H = Hermes cIOSs (202 & 222-224) will also be recommended
This should make it from (Disabled) to (Enabled)
Once it says (Enabled), select S = Save Settings Then select M = Main Menu
From the Main Menu, use SU = sysCheck Updater
Provide it the Syscheck.csv file you uploaded earlier by dragging and dropping the file into the ModMii window.
It might ask you if you want to remove\overwrite RiiConnect24 in IOS 31. You can say No.
It'll list many wad files that it will download, select Y = Yes, Generate Guide and Begin Downloading
Follow the generated guide closely to update your mod files and install Hermes.
If u don't have an SD let me know
i have an sd card, so i'll try this! will i need an internet connection on my wii for this?
No
ok perfect!
the cIOSes installed perfectly, thank you! but now wiiflow just kicks me back to the system menu when i try to start the game... this may be outside of you guys' realm of expertise, though ;;
Do other games load fine?
And did you make sure to set the IOS to the one the mod requires
yes, other games load fine
i tried 222-224 and none of them worked... i asked in the "support" server again because i saw someone have the same problem just now but i doubt anyone there will answer
Can u run Syscheck again then upload the syscheck.csv file to chat
ok, give me a minute :)
this should be the updated file? i forgot to delete the original one but it said this one was modified just now so i think it's all in there
i installed usb loader gx just for the hell of it but i didn't think to check if there's a way to read games on the sd card using it first ;;
USB Loader GX doesn't load games from SD. The app itself can live on an SD but the Wii games have to be on a USB drive.
@zinc trench
Can you power down the Wii, connect the SD to your PC, then search in windows for cmd and press enter.
in the command prompt, type chkdsk x: but replace x with the letter for your drive.
then screenshot the output.
Looking to verify the following:
Drive is 64gb or less: Formatted to FAT32 with 32kb (32768 bytes) in each allocation unit.
Drive is larger than 64gb: Formatted to FAT32 with 64kb (65536 bytes) in each allocation unit.
If you have a different allocation unit size backup your data and reformat to FAT32 with the correct allocation unit size for your drive.
the card itself is fine, i'm starting to believe the wbfs itself is finicky or just doesn't work
i'm downloading it onto a spare usb drive right now to check and see if it works with usb loader gx, but if it doesn't i'll just give up and buy the game on switch since it's on sale haha
nevermind, may have just found the issue—apparently the game requires the drive it's on to be formatted as NTFS
it was never mentioned anywhere in the info or download so i just didn't know
wut that's weird
i know right?
i'm still gonna try it with the spare usb drive but if that doesn't work i'm for sure giving up lol
thank you very much for your help!!
requires??
you sure that even worked?
