Every time i open usb loader gx it unplugs the hard drive, which causes the games not to be displayed. I honestly don't know what is causing this problem, it could be the hard drive itself, but it's detected on the homebrew channel, so I have no idea.

is the drive formatted as FAT32 and MBR?

Wii ) USB Drive Partititon Verification

Insert the drive into your PC, then search in windows for cmd and press enter. Type chkdsk x: into the cmd prompt, but replace x with the letter for your drive.

If your HDD is locked, use Disk Management instead and follow this guide to verify:

Check GPT or MBR Volume https://www.howtogeek.com/245610/how-to-check-if-a-disk-uses-gpt-or-mbr-and-how-to-convert-between-the-two/

If you have a different allocation unit size backup your data and reformat to FAT32 with the correct allocation unit size for your drive. Use guiFormat or WBM to reformat an SD/USB to FAT32 with preferred allocation unit sizes.

Drive is 64gb or less: Format to FAT32 with 32kb (32768 bytes) in each allocation unit.
Drive is larger than 64gb: Format to FAT32 with 64kb (65536 bytes) in each allocation unit.

#

this all correct @ osfan? ^

bright jacinth
#

yeah should be
just referenced wii backup manager cause it was in usb loader gx so i thought wbm lol

#

since it can do it too

tepid lantern
#

so I need to have the disk drive formatted to fat32 obligatory?

analog current
#

let me make note of that

#

wait but does wbm convert the volume to MBR from GPT?

analog current
#

MBR volume is much more compatible with other HB Apps @tepid lantern

bright jacinth
#

say, the homebrew channel

tepid lantern

#

Do you also have a /wbfs/ and /games/ folder on your USB?

#

with the files formatted correctly?

#

@tepid lantern are your files on your usb arranged like this?:

Wii ) File Folder Arrangement for Loaders

TEMPLATE:

💾SD/USB:
┣ 📂games --> GCN Games
┃ ┣ 📂GameName [gameID]
┃ ┃ ┗ 📜game.iso --> File is literally named game.iso
┃ ┗ 📂GameName [gameID]
┃ ┣ 📜game.iso
┃ ┗ 📜disc2.iso --> For Multi Disc GCN titles
┗ 📂wbfs --> Wii Games
┣ 📂GameName [gameID]
┃ ┗ 📜gameid.wbfs
┗ 📂GameName [gameID] --> For Split WBFS on FAT32 Partition
┣ 📜gameid.wbfs
┗ 📜gameid.wbf1

Yes, everything is correct, and yes, it says usb not initialized

When looking at the back of the wii, you should be inserting the USB HDD into the port on the right closest to the edge.

#

That is Serial Port 0

tepid lantern
#

mmm...
is that I am using a cable with 2 usb ports

analog current
#

I don't know if that would be an issue. It might 🤷‍♂️

#

Try a cable with one and see.

tepid lantern
#

it was never a problem

#

I also tried to use an extension and neither

analog current
#

Gonna need more information. Did you change anything recently with the drive?

tepid lantern
#

I must clarify that my disk is partitioned for gamecube and wii games

and today I changed the partition format of the wii games to fat32

safe pendant
#

i dont think the wii plays well with hdd partitions

#

but i could be wrong

#

try just having one partition

analog current
#

partitioning them differently
Whats the advantage here?

tepid lantern
#

so the hard drive should only have one partition?

#

How would I do to have the gamecube and wii games in one disk?
