So recently I finally modded my wii mini so I could play wii, gamecube, etc. so because people always say that usb loader gx is good I tried it out. I did the cios thingy (and yes I checked I did eversthing correctly) and I opened usb loader gx. It did the loading screen but after it got done I only had the usb loader gx home screen with no icons. It just won't work.

@solid plank
Are you using a USB stick or a USB hard drive

solid plank
#

usb stick

agile cove
#

Could be your issue

solid plank
#

wait so I have to buy a USB hard drive?

agile cove
#

USB sticks often cause issues yes. Something about their USB controllers varying a lot and many not being compatible with the Wii causing issues when the Wii tries to write to them

#

You can try reinstalling USB Loader Gx or reformatting the drive

#

But it appears formatted correctly with no issues

solid plank
#

It worked before though it was only when I deleted usb loader gx and reinstalled it

To help troubleshoot your issue please also run Syscheck and test all IOS on your Wii by following this guide:
https://wii.guide/syscheck

When it's done it will generate and display a syscheck.csv file.

If you don't have an SD, you will get an error. Just continue until the report is displayed. You will need to upload photos of the entire report.

If you have an SD, power down the Wii and insert the SD into a PC. Drag and drop the syscheck.csv file from the root of your SD into chat.

# solid plank Usb manager gx where do I put the rom folder

Here is what the folder structure should look like for game loading:
💾SD/USB:
┣ 📂wbfs
┃ ┣ 📂GameName [gameID]
┃ ┃ ┗ 📜gameid.wbfs
┃ ┗ 📂GameName [gameID] --This example is for split wbfs files, if you are on ntfs or your game is smaller than 4gb, ignore it
┃ ┣ 📜gameid.wbfs
┃ ┗ 📜gameid.wbf1
┗ 📂games
┣ 📂GameName [gameID]
┃ ┗ 📜game.iso --note: this is LITERALLY game.iso, not the name of the game, or the game id, just game
┗ 📂GameName [gameID] --This example is for multi disc games
┣ 📜game.iso
┗ 📜disc2.iso

Note: the WBFS folder is for WII GAMES ONLY and the Games folder is for GAMECUBE GAMES ONLY

get the game IDs here: https://www.gametdb.com/

For Wii games you can just use any of the programs found on this page as an easier alternative to manually creating the folder structure: https://wii.guide/wiibackupmanager

Ok

solid plank
solid plank

Are there any wads for stability I could download? Because maybe that could fix it.

agile cove
agile cove
solid plank
#

I did but it crashes

agile cove
#

o right Wii mini one sec

#

@solid plank

solid plank
#

So after I did that what do I have to do?

#

@agile cove

agile cove
solid plank
#

Okay Ima do that then

solid plank
#

@agile cove did the syscheck (sorry if I ping you that early)

solid plank
#

do you need a translation?

solid plank
#

I have a wii mini

#

It said 249 on the wii guid website

mmm

Ok I will take a look at the message history

K

civic hinge
#

Did you already put the games in the usb stick?

solid plank
#

Yes

solid plank
civic hinge
#

ok

solid plank
solid plank
#

But I tested it and it only appears to do that if there is an exisitng wbfs folder (also that happens when there is a wbfs folder with games inside)

Bruh means I bought that usb for nothing?

Other*

agile cove

But even if they're in the wrong spot the program should be loading.

#

So yeah it is pretty clear this is an issue with your drive.

civic hinge
#

Something is not ok
At least gui should be visible

#

Is the drive already fat32?

agile cove
#

Obviously

solid plank
civic hinge
#

Take your files out and try to use guiformat on it

solid plank
#

Ok

agile cove
civic hinge
#

Ik

#

How big is your usb btw

agile cove
#

The thingy says like 244gb

#

Phat USB stick

civic hinge
#

Then on allocation size select the 65k value

solid plank
#

Is that a problem?

agile cove
#

But yeah that would be ideal

solid plank
#

Okay

agile cove
#

32kb would still work

#

I use a 500gb HDD on 32kb

#

Because I'm too lazy to reformat it

civic hinge
#

Yes when drive is bigger than 64gb usually bigger allocation size is recommended but not mandatory

solid plank
#

Ok

solid plank
solid plank
#

Is there maybe an alternative to usb loader gx?

civic hinge
#

wiiflow

#

try that

#

if wiiflow doesn't work, your usb stick is uncompatible

solid plank
civic hinge
#

no special version

solid plank
#

Ok

# solid plank If it doesn't work could you recommend me a 256 gb usb that should work?

Any usb hard drive 2tb or smaller should work. If you're low on money, just get the cheapest one you can find
Here is a very cheap 320gb HDD:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HF9H0MA/
If you want something with a reliable warranty and might be made of better material, get a 1tb one from a known brand like WD, Seagate, or Toshiba:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079D359S6/

You can also use any 2.5" drive with an enclosure known to work with the Wii:

no, just don't mix it up with the pc drive letter

solid plank
#

Is anything else I should know of that could fix the usb?

#

@civic hinge

civic hinge
#

guiformat reformatting or chkdsk are enough to fix if issues occur
