hey new to this and just being extra careful not to brick my wii or do anything wrong. I like speedrunning and some games require to be run on VC. Im going to obtain a wad for yoshis story and am going to install Wii mod lite, once i get that in the apps, where do i put the yoshis story wad so that it appears in the selections of wads to install on the wii, and will it appear as a game in a channel like noraml vc games

Put WAD files in a folder called WAD on the root of your SD or USB.

Then install it using a wad manager like Wii Mod Lite:
https://wii.guide/wiimodlite

After you install a WAD file using a WAD manager, you can delete it from your WAD folder. They're installed to the Wii's system memory so there's no reason to keep it on your SD/USB.

If you have a bunch of Wiiware, VC or DLC .wad files you want to install directly to an SD, skipping the need of moving the channels to SD in Wii System Menu, I recommend you use the RiiConnect24 patcher and use its wad2bin tool.

You can get the patcher here:
https://github.com/RiiConnect24/RiiConnect24-Patcher/releases
Just download the .bat and put it in a folder called RiiConnect24 and run the bat.

Here’s a tip - when installing homebrew applications on your SD Card or USB drive, your folder structure should look like this:

πŸ’Ύ sd or usb:
┣ πŸ“‚ apps
┃ ┣ πŸ“‚ AppName1
┃ ┃ ┣ πŸ“„ boot.dol / boot.elf
┃ ┃ ┣ πŸ“„ icon.png
┃ ┃ β”— πŸ“„ meta.xml
┃ β”— πŸ“‚AppName2
┃ ┃ ┣ πŸ“„ boot.dol / boot.elf
┃ ┃ ┣ πŸ“„ icon.png
┃ ┃ β”— πŸ“„ meta.xml

AppName1 and AppName2 are placeholder names.

Do not nest multiple apps folders inside the apps folder itself.

#

Just make sure the structure is like this

#

You don't want to end up with sd:/apps/WiiModLite/apps/WiiModLite/

#

That's a nested apps folder

#

And is common for beginners to accidentally do

yeah i opened the "apps" and wanted to drag that folder in it to the apps on my sd

#

that way i didnt have apps in apps

You can just copy the apps folder to the root of your SD so it'll merge with your existing apps folder

#

If u r on windows

#

If ur on anything else like a Mac or ChromeOS it'll like not merge
