#A pie chart-like system for firing restrictions

basically you would get a 360 circle around your subobject for both azimuth and elevation where you could split it up into segments and give those segments a color that indicates what is allowed.
for example azimuth could have: red= no firing or traverse, yellow= allow traverse, green = allow firing and traverse.
elevation would probably just be red and green where red= restrict elevation, green= allowed field of elevation.

the current system works but feels very confusing. i almost never touch the elevation sliders because whenever i tried setting my restrictions the gun refused to fire. i have done it with azimuth tons of times and it works, although it took me a while to get used to and i usually dont look forward to that step of the building process.

You can already do all of that with the current system, but that would make it a bit easier.

However if the system was to be remade i think we should be even more ambitious and make a system that would allow for full spherical control.

Double however! The system only exists as a bandaid because failsafes don't work and turrets try to push through collisions with the hull. Fix those two old issues and there's no need for any of this, it would just work on its own.

speaking of that spherical control system. would it cause lag or large file sizes or would that be smoother than expected to implement?. btw, it would also be nice for mantlets since you could easily set it up for a firing piece to prevent the barrel from going up/down/sideways more than intended to avoid clipping. on second thought that sounds more like a
half sphere-ish system but in either case it would be really nice.

A spherical/pie chart system would make it so much easier and nicer to set up turrets with multiple no-fire zones
